49th Vibration is a groove, rock, folk, metal, alternative, retro, pop, progressive, band with a touch of jazz tossed in for good measure.
49th Vibration began in 2006 in Dallas, TX when long-time friends David Harbour (bassist - David T.Chastain, Michael Harris, King Diamond) and Troy Thibodeaux (vocalist/guitarist - Damaged Faith) were having a beer then started throwing around the “B” word. David had been relentlessly bending Troy’s ear on the idea for nearly two years. Troy was ready to listen.
Mr. Thibodeaux was performing solo acoustic shows at the time, and had a lot of material that he and David felt could be represented perfectly with just a small group. Both had been in many bands before, but never together. They were each a bit jaded, but the mutual love of good music and respect for each other’s talents took over.
David said he had the perfect drummer.
Two years earlier, in 2004, David met April Samuels (Frognot, Baby Jane Hudson, Bullitt, Rocket Girl) through a mutual friend/producer while recording in separate projects at a Dallas, TX studio. They were fast friends and their admiration for one another as musicians was immediate. April Samuels was, and still is, the hardest working drummer on the planet. By 2006, David had been talking to April about Troy and his music for about a year, continuing to insist it was something that just “had to happen”. After hearing some demo’s, and with respect for David’s judgment - Samuels was in.
The plan was to get everyone CD’s of the songs and learn the material, then get together and work out the details. The plan didn’t go accordingly, and they simply got together and jammed. What could have been a backing band for Troy’s preconceived musical arrangements turned into a musical collaboration of styles that far-surpassed Troy’s vision for the band’s sound. And the great thing is - it all came naturally. A perfect fit.
Finding a name for the group was the next order of business. The threesome shared a mutual love for all things Christopher Guest (Waiting for Guffman, Spinal Tap, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, etc.).
So, in December 2006, pulling a quick-witted line from one of the flicks with great precision, the groups name, “49th Vibration”, was born.
The trio jumped into recording and, collaborating between April and Troy’s home studios, released four defining tunes available via their sites at www.myspace.com/49thvibration or www.49thvibration.com This freshman effort captures the wide range of musical interests already deeply instilled in 49th Vibration.
The collaboration of Troy, David and April as 49th Vibration, has only reached the tip of the iceberg. Stay tuned - the best is yet to come!

Sweet! If I lived around there I'd come check you guys out!
I'm leaving tonight to go play the Maryland Death Fest this Saturday with Monstrosity. I guess we're one of the headliners. I'm filling in as a session bassist for Monstrosity's 2008 tours, and we'll see what happens after that!
You know we want to do a show with you guys someplace....We could travel in a big ballon, but we'd have to get a stand alone lead singer with a big ego to keep the ballon afloat!!!
