About me:

The
is made of:
BORDERLANDS - TERRE DI CONFINE (5th Edition) - Bolzano is a city that sits on the border between two cultures and two different worlds. In 1998 Ferruccio Cumer (president of The ZeLIG film school, and vice-president of the film culture association the Bolzano Cineforum) and his daughter Federica, (fresh from interesting work as a film director and writer) decided precisely for this reason that Bolzano would be the ideal city in which to organise a festival that dealt with border lands and the particular situations, both positive and negative, that can arise within them. The festival was given the name Borderlands and unlike any other film festival, has a very strong thematic link with the border city that acts as its host. The aim of the festival is to promote peace and understanding among different populations through the examination and projection of films that illustrate the history, the current situation, the life and the problems of those groups and individuals who inhabit the "borderlands". This is the place (an example being the province that hosts the festival itself) where language, civilization and different ethnic groups come into contact and often into conflict.
RIMUSICAZIONI (10th Edition) - This festival was founded almost on a lark by the Harlock cultural association. Its aim is to present the public with a new sound version of films that belong to the silent era. In reality, silent films have never actually been silent because at the time of their screening there was always a live musician playing some, albeit small, amount of music.
Showing those films today without a soundtrack means mutilating and disfiguring them. Therefore, we asked authors to chose a film from the silent era and add a "new sound-track". We write this in quotation marks because the participating authors have complete and total freedom. Each of them can decide whether to use music (of their own or another's creation), sounds or noises etc., and whether to put a didactic or a desecrating slant on the project. In this way the authors find themselves having to face the challenge of modifying films that already have their own independent artistic dignity and a whole series of meanings, materials and emotions that today's twenty-first century audience has come to recognise.
SHORTLAND (2nd Edition) - In Trentino Alto Adige the possibilities for young short film makers to compare their own capabilities with an audience and fellow film makers aren't many. Likewise rare are the possibilities for a passionate audience and for people who work in this field to get an idea of "the state of the art". Because of this, "4FF" has decided to compare short films produced in the region with those realised by young international directors in the window "ShortLand".
From 2008 onwards the regional competition will be accompanied by a retrospective of short films coming from the international festival “Arcipelago – Festival Internazionale di Cortometraggi e Nuove Immagini” in Rome, the most important and recognized in Italy.
During the 9 days of “4FF” the film makers of Trentino Alto Adige, together with the audience, will be able to meet their colleagues, get to know their work and discuss it directly.
And at the same time they will be judged by a prestigious jury that decides who is going to take part in one of the official section of “Arcipelago”.
And, furthermore, they will participate in the competition for the audience award.
In short: an opportunity to compare one’s talent, a possibility of getting noticed in the national and international panorama.
INDIELAND (2nd Edition) - The 4 Film Festival, interested as ever in the "movements" in independent film, hosted an important event from Milan in 2008 edition. The Milan of the emigrants: the Lombard line in film is the first hand to be played in a new game: revealing that which exists, breaking the inertia of “visions” and bringing obstinate, resistant, urgent films out into the open. Because visibility means discussion, conflict and growth for anyone who puts their creativity to work, but for filmmakers it is an essential condition.
