Four Guys from Reno is an award-winning jazz trio from Sacramento. Bassist Sam Phelps, pianist Andre Fylling and drummer Brian Rogers have been gigging weekly in Sac since the bands conception when the members were in high school. They regularly astound crowds with their professional musicianship and vivacious energy. They have been holding down Old Sacramento for years as the house band at Fulton's Prime Rib on 2nd and I streets. You can catch them there every friday and saturday night from 7-11 oclock. They perform with a variety of guest musicians from the local scene and beyond, including saxaphonist Aaron Thurman, trumpeters Anthony Coleman and Leon Moore (from Bucho!) and Derek Everret, guitarist Arlen Anderson, and many more. You never know what to expect, the only thing you can be sure of is that the 4 Guys will deliver the goods. They play all styles, from traditional jazz, to latin and reggae, to hip-hop, to classic rock, and everything in between. So if you want to see handsome young talented musicians who play with spirit and passion, check out the FOUR GUYS FROM RENO. "hey, man, can i bum a smoke off one of you?"
"sorry man, we don't have any"
"dude, you guys from reno?"
"um...yeah, man, we're from reno"
"yeah? you go to that one highschool?"
"nah, man, we go to the other one"
"oh...that's cool..."
Congrats on the win!! What blows my mind is--and I'm going to be totally honest here--I don't like the style of music that you guys play. But somehow, your enthusiasm seeps into me and I really start feeling it. You are mind-blowing musicians and performers and fully deserve your spot in the Sammies Hall of Fame.
