DJ4Joy hit the Hip Hop culture in 1982. There was on Norwegian TV about the 'new' phenomenon in Bronx, NY. He saw graffiti and some Breaking/Boogie. He had no idea what this was, but at the same time a friend of his came back from living in USA for a year. He brought back some records and some dance moves. The records were from Enjoy recordings and had Treatcherous Three on them. And at the same time Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five had their hits in Norway. And he got his very first Rap Album. "Greatest Hits - Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five" Exchanged it for a Krokus (german rock) album.
From there on nothing happened until 1984 when it all blew up. DJ4Joy was hooked on this culture from day one. He started as a dancer, then did some Graffiti. But as drawing was not his thing he soon got interested in music and by 1988 he had become a DJ. As a dancer he was on and off and held several classes until 1990. He then moved to Moss, got new contacts and started up 100% again. By 1992 he was involved in a radio show, a Rap crew, classes and running a Hip Hop sunday club. He was also involved in youth against drugs. And from there on a lot of stuff happened. Today he is an organizer, a freelancer, a DJ/Producer and a Dancer.
He started playing on turntables in 88 and have never stopped doing it. today he is specialized in B Boy funk and plays only on Dance Jams. He is also in The Dynamic Duo with DJ Impaalskee. They both are leading in Dance music in Norway.
Today he still DJ, but only at Hip Hop Jams and Battles. He play all dancestyles. But his love is for some real nasty dirty groovy funk. He also mix and remix alot of styles and has released several mixtapes and mixes.
He was the very first on Internet with a site on the elements of Hip Hop. It was a couple around then back in 1995, but non on the entire culture. 4Joy was also the very first starting writing the history of Hip Hop. The site is still going strong over 10 years in the league. Today the site contain the largest videoclip section ever on the net on the subject Old School. www.thefourelements.net
Besides this one, DJ4Joy also run Norways finest and biggest Hip Hop site. ALL modern/street/funk styles/new styles and not at least all norwegian B Boys hang out there. And it has become the no 1 meeting spot.
He also in all this years has arranged jams, battles and sessions.
DJ4Joy is now 40 years old and are still brutaly involved with the scene as one of the very few pre Old Schoolars in Norway.
Dj4Joy run his own dance school and have now been going strong for 8 years. The school was amongthe very first in battling and has done good in battles.
As a producer 4Joy make Rap beats. He make remixes of all kind and produce megamixes, short mixes, medley mixed..s, mixtapes and show mixes.
