About me:

Bash Back was around long before it was a collective in 2007, it existed before the republican national convention did. Every time queers have fought back against their oppression, and you better believe that there's a very long history of queers fighting back. In World War II -though the queer holocaust mostly goes unspoken of- when gay men made love to each other in the confines of their work camps. When on one hot August night in Compton, in 1966 queens, fags, dykes, and trannys refused to be arrested, harassed, and humiliated, a queen threw her hot cup of coffee into the pigs face and immediately after saucers, plates and cups, were flying all around the cafeteria in the Tenderloin District. The night turned into a beautiful scene of riotous queer ruckus, remembered as "The Compton Cafeteria Riots." How about on June, 28th, 1969 at around 1:20 a.m when pigs tried to raid The Stonewall Inn, in Greenwich Village and were met with rage? When a trans womyn named Sylvia Rivera hit a pig with her high heeled shoe after being prodded with his nightstick, the crowd of queer folks broke out in melee! Queers trapped the pigs inside the bar and attempted to light it on fire! The riots lasted for 4 days after that night, being dubbed "The Stonewall Riots." When any queer kid has bashed back against homophobic, transphobic scumbags who walked the hallways of their high school. When a jock yells faggot at a gay man and he beats the shit out of the jock for it. When queer youth can't find a place they belong among the assimilationist, corporate fuckin, pride parade, and can't see the importance of fighting for gay marriage, bash back has always been there. .. Bash Back! Guelph formed as a response to our outrage and anger of queer oppression, as well as the queer assimilationist mind frame that continues to plague our city and other cities around us. We recognize the need for radical queer struggle everywhere and are dedicated to fighting against queer bashers, gender binaries, and all forms of state oppression. We seek to free the minds and crotches of these chains and bondage, and if chains and bondage gear are yer thing we want to help free you from the chains and bondage that keep you from it.
