Mark's Interests
|
| General | Watercolors, photography, comic strips n' cartoons. I do all of 'em with varying degrees of success. Mostly varying towards not much success, but some success, anyway. And I love the movies. My latest thing right now is Anaglyphs, and if you know what those are, you're cool. | | Music | I listen to all sorts of stuff. Classical. Lotsa Jazz. Enya. Celtic. Lounge music. Bing, Frank, Dino. And Eighties bands still rule! Lately, though, I've kept The Ditty-Bops' debut album in the CD player. | | Movies | Classics are my forte... Anything with Jimmy Stewart or The DUKE! And James Mason, Ray Milland, Cary Grant, Myrna Loy, Bing Crosby, you name it. Hitchcock, Capra, Ford. Silent films, too (Colleen Moore, Harold Lloyd). I like 80's movies, but I also like a lot of the newer movies ("Lord of the Rings" trilogy and the stuff Pixar does, etc.). I'll usually go see anything that looks interesting, and unlike most moviegoers, I DO NOT FEAR SUBTITLES! | | Television | Read a great quote once: "Theatre is Life, Film is Art, and Television is Furniture". Shocking to admit, but I don't really watch TV anymore. I used to watch tons, but gave it up in favor of DVDs. I pick up the South Park sets when they come out, but other than that and things like "The Simpsons", most TV these days is junk. Can't stand that "reality" crap or the voyeristic stuff that's littering TV these days. I am a big fan of older TV, though. I like Britcoms and sci-fi ("Space: 1999", "The Prisoner", "Doctor Who", etc.). Oh, and the Food Network rules! Alton Brown, "The Iron Chef", Ina Garten. One of the few channels that aren't part of the "cultural wasteland."
| | Books | Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. H.G. Wells. And just about anything by Sax Rohmer. Each had a brilliant grasp for description and building an atmosphere. I'd also have to throw in the work of Bertrand R. Brinley. Brinley brought us the adventures of The Mad Scientists' Club.
| | Heroes | Jimmy Stewart, Charles M. Schultz. |

Mark's Blurbs |
About me:
Not much to tell. I'm about as dull as dishwater. Among other things, I've done the following: I've lived in Seattle, Maine, Massachusetts, and spent time in a few other states. I've had some of my photos and articles published. I've used a Chyron Generator. I've seen Mrs. Tucker's "Tucker" car. I own a fedora. I've written two plays. I've been a radio DJ. And I've driven a German tank.
My New England-based webcomic, "Autumn Lake," can be found at autumnlake.com. I also do a weekly podcast. Be sure to stop by and check 'em out!

Who I'd like to meet:
Dunno. Most of the people I've always wanted to meet I've either already met or they're all dead. Other than new friends, folks with similar interests, fellow Yankee exiles, etc., I can't think of anyone.
