After helping the careers of many, Johnson has finally released his own project The Ron Johnson Project. It is a compilation of some of his favorite music from jazz and blues to hip hop and gospel you will find the likes of it all on his first project. Rons been playing for over 33 years and though hes known as well as being an ecstatic percussionist I also played violin in high school and fell in love with the Shreveport Symphony he says It broadened my horizons he explained. Ron received a platinum plaque for his work with the group H-Town when they recorded the single, Knockin The Boots. He was asked to play on their second album and he received another plaque for Beggin After Dark Ron has played or opened for Ike and Tina Turner, Betty Wright, Maze, The Gap Band, Keith Sweat, Dorothy Norwood and Cameo just to name a few. His new project reflects all of those artists. Ron and his band Windstorm have played all over the world even in Africa. Though all of my traveling Im most proud of my work at home. Ive taught many neighborhood kids to sing and play instruments. To see them take what Ive put into their lives and make careers out of it is something to feel good about he says. Although he grew up listening to Wes Montgomery, Pert Samkins, George Benson, B.B. King, and Carlos Santana many of the youth I in Shreveport are growing up listening to Ron for that he is already a role model and becoming a regional legend.
