Young Niss was born on March 21st, 1986 in Queens, New York. Since birth it was obvious that his lifestyle wasn't meant to be slow considering he was delivered in a car just minutes before reaching the hospital. In his early years, his parents decided to move their family to Albany, New York. The few years that his father was around he brought Niss everywhere with him. This included late nights at the bar, escapades with random women, drinking and a hard life in the streets. When his father left Niss became the man of the house and his life spiraled out of control. The new reality he and his family encountered was nothing but hard times and struggles. During these times of stress music became his outlet and therapist. It wasn’t too long before he discovered his own talent and passion for hip hop. He began creating songs of his own, reminissing about his everyday encounters. His mother became his number 1 fan and made sure she instilled in him that anything worth while was not easily achieved. Being a single mother of four she understood how to make something out of nothing and passed her creative thinking and wisdom to him. Coming from a low income household humbled him and taught him to appreciate the good times and not focus too hard on material things.
"It’s the memories that count in life, not how much money you have or what kind of car you drive , cause when you die you loose all possessions and its only your spirit that lives on not the fame or fortune."
-Young Niss
During his teenage years he became more aware of his surroundings and observed how his peers were making money. Niss got more involved in the streets and started hustling in search of the mighty dollar. He no longer had to struggle. He followed in his father's footsteps and could often be found at any event with alcohol and women. He set aside the morals that his mother had instilled in him and slowly stumbled off the path of success. He began spending more time in the streets and focused less on his music. At age 21, an experience shook Niss to his core. His entire outlook on life changed in an instant " I remember being in complete darkness. When I woke up I couldn't remember anything. Everything was a blur. I lifted my arm up and felt something ripping out of my skin. I had tubes and needles coming out of my arms." Young Niss recalls. He had drank an obscene amount of alcohol to the point where his body gave in and his pulse and heart stopped for several minutes and did not resume consciousness until the next day. This was the wake up call Niss needed. His life was spiraling down. A divine intervention was needed. "I was terrified. I was knocking on deaths door. God gave me one more chance so I have no choice but to go hard," says Niss . Needless to say after this brush with death the streets became less important as did the partying. He began to refocus on his true passion.
Young Niss is always striving for perfection. He reinvents himself on every song he does. With his latest project "Destined for Greatniss" he demonstrates his versatility with something for everyone. He has songs for the ladies, songs for the streets and of course songs with his comedic flare being shown. He is not about to fit into the "typical" mold that other rappers have. Niss is a triple threat-- a recording artist, song writer, and performer. Not to mention producer and entrepreneur. He is true Renaissance Man. A true lyricist.
"You gotta have fun with it you kno? cause if you ain't enjoying ya music why should you expect someone else to?"
