   Adbusters's Blurbs
About me:
We are a global network of artists, activists, writers, pranksters, students, educators and entrepreneurs who want to advance the new social activist movement of the infomation age. Join ADBUSTERS to disable mainstream media and topple existing power structures. Our aim is to forge a major shift in the way we will think and live our lives in the 21st century. www.adbusters.org For 24 hours, millions of people around the world do not participate in the doomsday economy, the marketing mind-games, and the frantic consumer-binge that's become our culture. We pause. We make a small choice not to shop. We shrink our footprint and gain some calm. Together we say to Exxon, Nike, Coke and the rest: enough is enough. And we help build this movement to rethink our unsustainable course. In its 13 years, BND has become a flashpoint, a day when people of all stripes come together in symbolic protest. Caption for image
Who I'd like to meet:
Artists, writers, pranksters, and anyone who is anti -Major Media concentration, overconsumption, toxic culture and corporate power structures. Get involved by not supporting these selfish Megamasses! Adbusters pays tribute to this weeks featured honorary member(s): Caption for image Critical Mass, an international event held in hundreds of cities on six continents, occurs on the last Friday of every month when bicyclists spontaneously come together to ride the ordinarily car-clogged streets of their cities. Critical Mass focuses on the rights of bicyclists and the rights of pedestrians on their own streets. It also brings attention to the deteriorating quality of life--starting with the toxic levels of air and noise pollution--that cars create for cities. Adbusters supports Critical mass!
