I just try to keep up. My daughter is a competitive gymnast and dancer. I guess I have my hands full.The fight game keeps me sane. MMA, Muay Thai,Grappling, Boxing.It's all good.I love to spar Muay Thai,Boxing.I grapple with my boy's.They train BJJ. Their ground game is good but my stand up is better. About me:
I have been married to my better half Bridgid, for 25 year's. I have 3 kid's. 2 boy's Troy, 20, David, 17, and my daughter Ariana, 15. I live for my kids. Ariana set up this space for me. I am a Firefighter/Engineer, in Las Vegas. I drive fire truck's. I am also a referee for the state of Nevada. Muay Thai, K-1, And Mixed Martial Art's. I love my job's.
I have been in the art's for over 30 year's. Starting with 8 years of Hung Gar, Choy Lay Fut and Wing Chun, Gung fu. I then moved on to boxing were I met some Muay Thai fighters, I was hooked and started training. I was a better trainer then a fighter so I started training Muay Thai fighters for the next 10 years. After my kids were born I had vary little time for training so I became a referee in 1993. I started out with Muay Thai, K-1 and Boxing. Then in 2002 MMA came mainstream and I was in the right place at the right time. Las Vegas. My first show was the WFA at the hard rock. Frank Trigg vs Leavern Clark. Trigg won. I hit the big time with UFC 43. I wrestled for three years in high school. And started BJJ classes with my boys to better understand the ground game. My son David has the best ground game in the family and plans to start fighting soon. It's all about the fighter's to me. And I take my job serious. The fighters have worked their ass off for their fight. Many times It's the biggest fight of their career. They came to give you a show. And they came to win. You can't stop a fight to early or to late. You need to give them a chance.
Every body depend's on your calls. The fighter's the promoter the commission and the fan's. They all want a clean fair fight, with A clear WINNER, and no CONTROVERSY. It's not always easy. We referee's do the best we can. I don't just show up for the fight. I train at the gym, watch every fight I can. If I referee the fight I watch the tape over and over to see how I can improve.I go to seminar's, Talk to the Doctor's, Learn about the fighter's, And in the end I hope it all pay's off.
