Shiner Bock and Shiner Records kick off the 2010 Shiner Record Contract Competition, the Shiner Rising Star. Three bands will compete to win a recording contract with Shiner Records, a label involving nationally and critically acclaimed producers. This year, the radio station 95.3FM The Range has received hundreds of applications from bands, not only in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, but from all around the United States and for these bands it comes down to one night, 30 minutes, and a row of judges..
This week the judging panel includes KHYI 95.3FM personality Brett Dillon. Brett Dillon has starred in the documentary “The Last Great DJ” and has spent over 30 years in the Radio and music business. John David Kent will also be judging the first Round performance. John David Kent signed with his first major record label at the age of 16 and his latest single “My Girl” has been at the top of the charts on CMT.com. Another well-known voice in Texas country, Merrol Ray will also be judging this Thursday. Ray has received top reviews for Miles from Nowhere albums “Bloodline” and “Miles from Nowhere(self-titled),” and has also recently released the album “Stanley,” (2010).
