NEW ALBUM FOR 2012 "CHANCE & CIRCUMSTANCE" The name "Milagro Saints" came to SD Ineson in a dream-while living in NYC. Milagro is spanish for "miracle". a 'milagro' is a small badge or brooch that is bought in mexico as a votive object which is pinned to the clothes of the effigies of saints in their churches- so there are representations of arms, legs, hands, sacred hearts, praying figures, etc. They are the object of prayer pertaining to whatever the badge represents. " I dreamed the name- I never really questioned it" SD Ineson SD Ineson:Vocals, Acoustic Rhythm Guitar Lee Kirby:Hammond Organ, Piano, Harmonica, Melodica Roberto Morales:Electric guitar/mandolin Smitty:Lap Steel Steve Samosky:Bass Rusty May:Drums/percussion Joyce Bowden: vocals Jick wins-Low: vocals, drums, bass, trombone, guitars, fiddle Currently the band are about to release their latest music project "CHANCE & CIRCUMSTANCE" a 12 song album on Moon Caravan Records Producer Jick wins-Low and The Saints has been working on the album for the last year in his studio in Carrboro, and various studios in Nashville. Consequently it is the richest sounding recording the band has made, with an eclectic group of songs covering diverse styles of folk-rock, americana, folky funkiness, alterna-pop, and acoustic balladry, filled out with complex vocal harmonies created by Jick and Joyce Bowden. BAND HISTORY: SD Ineson (guitar, vocals), former member of English NYC-based band The Jack Rubies, (who released two albums on TVT records, and toured extensively in the U.S. with bands They Might Be Giants and Modern English) and Lee Kirby (hammond organ, harmonica, piano) met by chance encounter in NYC and soon found their various musical influences harmonizing into a roots-rock americana sound, influenced by Dylan, Neil Young. Gene Clark. The Band, The Grateful Dead. Joining Lee and SD in the original line-up , Joyce Bowden, (singer and multi-instrumentalist) had previously worked with members of Talking Heads, The Ramones and Arthur Russell. A move out of NYC to Raleigh NC, found the band submerged in the rootsy celebrations of the local scene, releasing their debut CD "Milagro Saints" on local Raleigh label, MoodFood (who released the original Whiskeytown/Ryan Adams debut "Faithless Street") . The album took a place in the local music top ten and on college radio. Their 2nd CD "Midnight America" (2001) released on Moon Caravan Records, won them a slot in the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, Okemah OK, sharing the finale stage with all the performers, led by Arlo Guthrie in a mass version of "Goodnight Irene" "Sunday" (2003) gained even more interest for the band including radio play in Europe, became the theme song for WFIT's radio show 'Private Radio' and garnered comparisons to Fairport Convention and Rusted Root. "Let It Rain" (2006) had the break-out track "Jack Kerouac" and the band was invited to play in Lowell, Mass, (the authors's birthplace), in July 2007 on the occasion of the 50th year anniversary of his masterpiece 'On The Road', the band opened for 10,000 Maniacs. The next album was "Warm Soul Sunshine" (2008- CD & VINYL LP RELEASE) then Limited Edition CD "Blue Halo Valentine" (2009) a 'bootleg' of songs recorded in the basement of Moon Caravan Records HQ. The same year the band released their first live album "SONGS ON THE LIVE WIRE" "Slow-burning folk rock and time-steeled lyrical contentment shape the 10 tracks of Warm Soul Sunshine, the fourth album by Raleigh's Milagro Saints. This shouldn't come as a surprise, as the Raleigh staple has long built its peaceful, aging-into-wisdom reflections above suiting beds of polished rusticity, redolent of its '70s Laurel Canyon progenitors coming home to roost. Warm Soul Sunshine is the band's most self-assured platter yet, though, with S.D. Ineson's aphorism-rich songwriting and patient melodies bolstered by the capable playing of a strong supporting cast." Grayson Currin The Independent
