Formed in January 2009, samjjana's music is blissful, inspirational, captivating, meditative and profoundly soothing. Not easily fitting into any existing music genre, Maia and Sahayak prefer to describe their music as 'new consciousness' music for the aspiring heart of humanity. Their instrumentals, harmonies, songs and chants are divinely inspired original compositions enhanced with improvisation. Among samjjana's various, unusual instruments, the centrepiece is the hang - an enchanting, exquisitely gentle 'sound sculpture'. Particularly when combined with Pratika's wooden flutes (Native American, Bansuri and Shakuhachi), samjjana's sound is unique. They have four albums.
