Many bands see living in the South Island as a limitation, NEAVUS on the other hand have embraced it.
Originally forming the band while in the third form at high school the 4-piece have spent the past six years building a strong following in their home town of Christchurch as well as the rest of the South Island through headlining their own shows and supporting other touring bands.
The band describes their sound as Hard Core Impact Rock half because of the way it sounds but also because of the reaction the get when they play live. The NEAVUS sound is a mix of all their influences which derive from many different genres as well as the influence they have from each other having been playing together since their early teens.
Highlights for NEAVUS have been opening for Hamiltons Stardrunk on their 2004 & 2005 national tours, opening for WASH on what was to be their final national tour, playing at the UNITY Festival in Christchurch in 2005 & 2006 alongside 8 Foot Sativa and over 100 top other national acts at Easter weekend. Also the end of 2004 saw Neavus play alongside Shihad at Nelsons New Years Eve Festival The Cusp which boasted a crowd of more than 10,000 people.
2005 saw NEAVUS venture to the North Island for the first time with their own self-funded tour during Mays NZ Music Month to promote the release of the debut single Bulletspeed. Later in the year they won the Canterbury/Marlborough Regional finals of the World Battle of the Bands. NEAVUS beat over 30 other bands from Christchurch, Nelson & Blenheim to earn the right to represent their region and compete at the New Zealand Final at Galatos in Auckland.
In 2006, NEAVUS opened for Stylus on every show of their South Island tour and 'Bulletspeed' was played on C4 show Import X. With constant gigging around Christchurch and the South Island NEAVUS' Fan base has grown hugely.
NEAVUS are currently filming a video for 'Bulletspeed' which will be released by the Winter of 2007.
