Baby, whom many entertainment insiders are calling musics next major pop superstar, gained national exposure as a finalist on the WB TV series Pop Stars. This singer, songwriter, dancer, actress, and model has garnished praises from such industry heavyweights as Grammy winning writer/producer Dallas Austin (with whom she has also collaborated) who called her the next Madonna and legendary producer David Foster who said I think shes incredible and talentedshes going to do great! She has worked with an All Star cast of hit making producers including Austin (TLC, Madonna), C. Tricky Stewart (Mya, Sisqo, Blu Cantrell, B2K), Ford (Robin Foxx), and HitSreet (Pink, Divine). Baby also worked with pop icon Prince, who recruited her to host his internet radio show, NPG Audio, where he played her song You Can Touch Me along with the song that he wrote about her entitled Baby Knows.
Baby was born in the Midwest and soon moved south to Atlanta. She was raised in a musical family (her father named her after his rock & roll band) and she caught the performing bug at a young age. Baby was a standout in music, drama, and athletics as a child and her passions stuck with her into her adult life. In 1998 she joined a five girl vocal R&B group called Roxxi where she was first introduced to the music business. The group recorded in Atlanta with producer Kevin Shekspere Briggs (Pink, TLC) and toured in Europe opening shows for such groups as Destinys Child and 112.
In 2000 Baby and three of the girls from her group decided to attend an open call audition for Pop Stars. Babys vocal and dancing skills combined with her unique attitude and look (a stunning mix of Welsh, Hungarian, Native American and African American) made her an obvious choice. With the blessings of her band mates, Baby went on to gain national exposure after being picked out of thousands of hopefuls as a finalist on the show. She was a favorite among viewers, but was cut by judges in Los Angeles in the shows final weeks. Encouraged by the experience and praise she received from those involved with the show, she decided to pursue her passions for both performing and songwriting and Babys solo career was born.
Babys live solo performance debut was in September of 2001, as part of Atlanta radio station 95.5 The Beats annual birthday bash (the station that also debuted her single You Can Touch Me) where she shared the stage with Jessica Simpson, Jagged Edge, and Craig David. Her high energy performance featured 10 dancers and a live DJ and quickly won over a large crowd. Baby went on to perform in New Orleans as part of the celebration of Super Bowl XXXVI.
Babys music is edgy, dance flavored pop/rock. Her sound has been compared to contemporary artists such as Pink, Kylie Minogue, and Madonna. It was the Material Girl herself, whom Baby met and befriended while Madonna was in Atlanta recording, that introduced Baby to Dallas Austin. Austin produced and co-wrote Babys single You can Touch Me which received airplay in Atlanta and heavy club play in Atlanta and Miami. It was also included on the hot Miami dance club, Crobars compilation CD for the 2001 Winter Music Conference.
Baby is currently working with Atlanta producer, Charley Mac (1flow.com) on a new album, while continuing to refine her songwriting and performing skills in preparation for her much anticipated reemergence.
