    Funny people, people and things that challenge me, blues guitar, live jazz performances, Running races with others who share the love of running, 5k/10k/15k/half marathon/full marathon/ultra marathon...I'm a sponge when it comes to running these days. I've read two biographies about runners (Dean Karnazes and Bart Yasso) and I frequent RunnersWorld.com for their articles and discussion board. I plan on races on October 18th, November 1st, November 22nd, December 13th and April 4th so far. I'm going to attempt the full marathon either on December 13th at ThunderRoad in Charlotte NC or maybe do the half then and the full in the spring. Let's talk about fitness and compare notes...

I'm lucky to have had her guidance and constant support my whole life. Dean Karnazes: 50 marathons in 50 days. Committed to helping lots of causes including kids' health. Just a good all around guy with an amazing inner drive and fearless pursuit of his testing his physical limitations...Inspiring! Joe and Teresa Brown: My pastor and his amazing wife. Both of these people are amazing speakers and have been models of strong, Christian values for a long time. Unwavering in their conviction and down to Earth in their treatment of others, Joe and Teresa are an amazing couple. Dr. Brown just stepped down as senior paster at Hickory Grove and I will miss him and Teresa greatly.

About me:

.. Virginia born and Carolina raised...I'm comfortable in my own skin and I'm open to new things, but I know what I like. I want to meet people who share some of my interests. I'm passionate about seeing the light in someone's eyes when I show them something new... I've recently discovered the joy of running, especially on trails. I ran my first half marathon on Oct.4th (13.1 miles in 2hrs.7min.)and loved it. Ran a 15K (9.3 miles in 1hr.16min.28sec) at Lake Norman as my first road race. And just finished my first 5K (23min.36sec.)on Nov.1 in uptown Charlotte. I have more runs planned: 5K on Nov.15, 2 5k's on Nov.22 (Lake Norman in the AM, Concord at 2PM), maybe Nov.26,Dec.13th ThunderRoad (either 5k,10k,or half marathon...not sure yet)... I've witnessed a sunset cruise and climbed Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica, felt the roar of Niagra from behind the falling water, strolled the boardwalk among the friendly people of Toronto, witnessed the blinding snow and miles of flat land in Wyoming, ridden the white water of the Nantahalla, and braved the bright lights and the Naked Cowboy in Times Square...And every time I go somewhere new, I start planning the next place I want to go...Anyone been to Tuscany? Madrid? Switzerland? I'd love to hear about it because I plan to go there someday too. While I do stay fit and healthy, I know how to enjoy good food. I enjoy sharing a great meal with someone interesting who shares my appreciation for culinary delights...Our time is irreplaceable, so I am careful about how I spend mine.
