Bavarian Gigolo Nacht # 36 @ Bob Beaman München

Inzwischen ist sie einfach legendär: Am 13.12. findet die „Bavarian Gigolo Nacht“ zum 36. Mal statt, der Münchner Nachtclub Bob Beaman bildet einmal mehr die ideale Soundkulisse für den Auftritt von „Fürst Nachtleben“ alias DJ Hell. Special Guest diesmal: Der Mexikaner Rebolledo, einer der profiliertesten DJs des furiosen Labels „Cómeme“ und lateinamerikanischer Part des Erfolgsduos „Pachanga Boys“.
Mit den „Bavarian Gigolo Nights“ machte Hell eine Veranstaltungsreihe zum Kult und bescherte Fans und Connaisseuren von extrem tanzbaren Beats und fulminanten DJ-Sets perfekte Housepartys mit elektronischen Klängen.
Zu „Mr. Gigolo“ muss nicht viel gesagt werden: Als DJ, Produzent und Labelbetreiber ist Hell längst eine Institution der internationalen Szene. Variation und Neuschöpfung waren dabei seit jeher sein Anspruch, lange Vorspiele lehnt er ab: „Wenn ich da bin, geht's los!“, ist sein Motto.
Als Produzent hat er etliche Clubhits auf den Markt geworfen und nebenbei Szenegrößen wie Fischerspooner, Miss Kittin und Zombie Nation geformt. Die Pet Shop Boys, Grace Jones, Bryan Ferry, Alan Vega und P. Diddy setzten bereits auf seine kreativen Künste, Playboy-Pate Hugh Hefner ließ ihn zu seinen berühmten Partys einfliegen. Schon immer steht er außerdem für die Symbiose von Kunst, Mode und Musik, auch wenn er sein Image als warholeske Stilikone gerne mit eher dezentem, dafür umso effektvollerem Understatement kultiviert.
Rebolledo, gemeinsam mit dem deutschen House- und Electro-DJ Superpitcher das DJ-Duo „Pachanga Boys“, kreiert unvorhersehbare, filmische Soundszenarios mit psychedelischen Einflüssen. Musikalische Vorbilder? Statt einer Reihe von Acts zählt der Mexikaner lieber eine Tracklist von „key pieces“ auf – und die Qualitäten, die sie für ihn so perfekt machen: „Die Energie der Filmmusik von ‚The Warriors’, der Beat von Michael Jacksons ‚Billie Jean’ und der Bass im Breakdown von ‚Thriller’; die treibende Dynamik der Bassläufe in Giorgio Moroders ‚The Chase’ oder die Snare Drum der mexikanischen Militärkapellen – ich könnte jeden von diesen Sounds endlos loopen und für immer tanzen.“
Vielleicht nicht für immer, dafür aber endlos tanzen – die hochinfektiösen Sets von Hell und Rebolledo halten dieses Versprechen wirklich bei jedem...

No Party is ever the same...Wenn die inzwischen legendäre Bavarian Gigolo Nacht am 2. August in die 35. Runde geht, wird das Bob Beaman in München einmal mehr zur idealen Soundkulisse für den Auftritt von “Fürst Nachtleben“ alias DJ Hell. Diesmal mit an den Turn Tables: Das DJ-Duo “Søren”, trotz oder gerade wegen des maskulin klingenden Namens einer der heißesten Geheimtipps unter Belgiens upcoming Female Acts…
Mit den “Bavarian Gigolo Nights“ hat Hell eine Veranstaltungsreihe zum Kult gemacht und in München eine Plattform geschaffen für perfekte Housepartys mit extrem tanzbaren Beats und fulminanten DJ-Sets.
Zu Hell, bürgerlich Helmut Geier, muss man nicht viel sagen: “Mr. Gigolo“ ist weltweit gefragt als DJ, Produzent und Labelbetreiber. Abwechslung und Neugestaltung waren dabei von jeher sein Anspruch, lange Vorspiele mag er nicht: „Wenn ich da bin, geht's los!“ Als Produzent hat er etliche Clubhits auf den Markt geworfen und nebenbei Szenegrößen wie Fischerspooner, Miss Kittin und Zombie Nation geformt. Amelie Lens und Rosalie de Meyer, zusammen der Antwerpener DJ-Act Søren, wecken kühne Hoffnungen: Part-Time-Models und Liebhaberinnen von Katzen und Gin-Tonic, sind sie spezialisiert auf Tech-House und außerdem Co-Organisatoren von “Matterhorn“, einer der angesagtesten Partys in Belgien. Fast immer in intellektuelles Schwarz gekleidet, mit knalligem Lippenstift als Kontrastakzent, waren sie unter anderem auf dem “Les-Ardentes-Festival” und dem “Francofolies de Spa Festival” zu sehen. Wenn sie am Mischpult loslegen, spielen sie manchmal mehr House, manchmal mehr Techno – je nachdem, zu was sie inspiriert sind.
Inspirierend anders, um nicht zu sagen infektiös, dürfte es in jedem Fall werden, wenn die heißen Vibes von “Søren” und die coolen Beats von DJ Hell am 2. August im “Bob Beaman” aufeinander treffen... No Party is ever the same.

The curtain rises – für eine Release Party der besonderen Art: Wenn am 26. April zum 34. Mal die inzwischen legendäre „Bavarian Gigolo Night“ anbricht, trifft DJ Hells Sound Design erstmals auf Opernklänge. Zusammen mit der Berliner Star-Sopranistin Nadja Michael schuf „Mr. Fürst Nachtleben“ eine Neuinterpretation von Klaus Nomis Kult-Arie „Cold Song“ – und lädt zur Videopremiere (directed by „Voin de Voin“) und Single-Präsentation in die ideale Soundkulisse des Nachtclubs Bob Beaman in München.

Sich ständig neu zu erfinden ist seine große Kunst. Die Vielfalt des musikalischen Spektrums von Hell, (der 1962 als Helmut Josef Geier in Altenmarkt/Chiemsee geboren wurde), dient seit Jahren als Spiegel seiner Entwicklung. Add into this conspiracy of talent remixes from Carl Craig (who creates two strokes of pure genius), DFA's effortless helms-man Tim Goldsworthy and Simian Mobile Disco on their most on-point form, and you hardly need us to tell you: you need this. 5 stars.

Driving nocturnal bass keeps heads down on this tip whilst a standout remix from Sir Carl Craig sees him up the narcotic synth stabs to epic proportions. Robert Hood would be proud. A great single delivered by a triptych of true, if disparate legends.

The one and only DJ Hell aka Helmut Josef Geier, will mix the ninth edition of Get Physical’s Body Language series. Coming from a long line of Body Language predecessors such as Dixon, Modeselektor, Junior Boys and Matthew Dear, DJ Hell will take over the reigns for the well respected mix series.
The forthcoming installment follows on from his recent well-received LP Teufelswerk, which came out in 2009. If we breakdown the track listing of the mix, we can see a very eclectic mix of the old and new spread out. Ryuichi Sakamoto & David Sylvian’s chart topping Forbidden Colors makes an appearance, avant-garde string collective; The Balanescu Quartet are featured with their track Robots plus some fresh blood courtesy of Dollkraut and Clara Moto.
Moreover, there are plenty of remixes and re-edits courtesy of Dixon, Peter Kruder, Kirk Degiorgio, Carl Craig and King Britt. How DJ Hell managed to squeeze David Bowie & The Pat Metheny’s This Is Not America into the mix is impressive.
