Bio
With more and more auto tuned, Bill Withers sampled pop-tosh churned out to the masses like canteen dinners. Isn't it time we took a minute to follow our breadcrumbs back to the beginning and discover music again? These are the thoughts of two unlikely lads from Oxfordshire, (Adrian Dacre and Carlton Taylor) known as 'Skates and Wagons!' Adrian who has played music for over 30 years previously worked as a session drummer for such acts as 'Badly Drawn Boy'. He then went on to work with 'The Away Team' a production project from Courtyard Studios. Carlton comes from what might be considered a more structured performing arts background. From Beatles numbers at the Kenton Theatre to international tours with his previous bands 'Metro' and 'The Details' he is now anything but conventional. Skates and Wagons achieve a totally unique yet instantly familiar feel, focusing on organic sounds and pulse defining melodies. Refreshingly classic instruments set the scene for Carlton's unmistakable vocals. Every track keeps you guessing while being totally ready to be recreated live. All that aside, Skates and Wagons just do what they do and do it well. They enjoy the little bubble of love they have created. It's what helps them to continue creating great music. They don't have to deal with external influences like record companies they can just sit on their sofas and enjoy music again. "If people like it then they will listen to it. There is so much music out there now the fact that half a thousand people a day choose to listen to us is great and we'll just have to see where it goes?" I think the best way to describe what you are about to hear is The Stranglers and Bowies 70's lovechild, with all the recording capabilities of the 21st century recorded in some guy's bedroom. You're going to love it!! -
