Music
Gillian Welch, The Golden Gate Quartet, Syd Barret, Merle Haggard, The Soft Boys, Elvis Presley, The Stanley Brothers, The Stairwell Sisters, and as if you didn't already know this, I'm a big fan of Doyle Lawson.
I love good harmony, i.e. quartet singing, twin/triple fiddles, or three-part melodies played on steel guitar. I do like a song with a good melody, and anything that is rhythmically interesting (not too straight). For example, just yesterday I heard that Paul Simon song on the radio "Me and Julio down by the School Yard." Next time you hear it, listen to the melody and pay attention to the rhythm. That's what I'm talking about. Good work, Paul.

My great grandfather Curly Gauthier, noted for naming his first daughter Eula Mae (after his old girlfriend), his second daughter Cornelius (after himself), and third daughter (my grandmother) Mercedes.
About me:
Recently dislocated from San Francisco, now living in hotel rooms across America hoping to buy a house in New Orleans. See that pink house on my picture page? That's the house I want. Just wait till I get it fixed up. You'll see.
UPDATE! I bought that pink house. Actually I bought it a year and a half ago and painted it gray. Looks much better now, at least on the outside.
A self-described postmodern contrarian, I was sent to earth to bring out the good in bad people and vice versa. Friends liken me to Lenny from Laverne and Shirley. My agent says I'd make a good leading man because I have off-beat good looks. Which means, I'm good looking... for an ugly guy.
Inventions to my credit include the money clip bottle opener and an interactive rave dance toy. Chances are my motorcycle is cooler than yours. See picture.
Although I'm no longer playing with them, if you are in San Francisco, you can go out to Amensia (Valencia St. b/w 19th St. and 20th St) on a Monday night and may see my former bluegrass band, Homespun Rowdy. There's free live music there every Monday night. Stick around for Doyle Lawson sing-a-long, and tell Shawn I said hello.
Who I'd like to meet: Mark-ass marks, trick-ass marks, punk bitches, and skip-scaps, skanks, and skally-wags. Ho's, heifers, hee-haws and hooly-hoops. Larry Cordle, Dolly Parton and anyone who can sing like that.
