OK, heres something new. We have taken the decision to set up a podcast radio show ACOUSTIC SHACK. (See the banner below)
Have you got what it takes to shake the shack?
Or move it? (or even blow the roof off?)
The main point of all this is to support our fellow artists and to promote more interest in the genre of real living (in the broadest sense of the terms)folk/country/acoustic music. Take a swing by the control room, its all spelled out for you there. We need submissions for airplay/review. We are very pro what is going on right now, get in touch with ACOUSTIC SHACK and lets see what we can do?
From Nick, Gaff and Liam
Palava are a terrific 3 piece acoustic band from Nottingham with an earthy, organic feel to their music. Their original songs draw on influences as diverse as traditional folk through to blues and country and reflect life in all its complexity. Their 3rd album, "The Whitethorn Tree" is out exclusively on Folkwit records. Theres a free sampler of all the Folkwit Artists available, just click the link below and follow the instructions for a free download.
"a wonderful mix of folk, roots and country with both Irish and American influences" -Kathy Tan, Folkworld ( www.folkworld.de )
"Roots music with an authentic feel and Celtic touches, a worthy release on the label" - DC, Americana-UK
Fallen in Clover
The opening eponymous track is a catchy number; Nick's motto of "keep it simple, keep it real, trust your intuition" is reflected in the lyrics, which are down-to-earth manifestations in words of the ups and downs of everyday life. Notable tracks on the album are "Smoke and Lies" (track 3), "Wings of Angels" (track 7), and my personal favourite, "Don't Turn the Radio Town" (track 8- listen out for the lovely waltz instrumental!). At 39:05 minutes, the length of the album is, perhaps, its only shortfall. It somehow leaves the listener craving more; then again, I suppose that makes the anticipation of Palava's next release even sweeter! :-) www.folkworld.de
Fallen in Clover (Folkwit 2003) First release on a new British label dedicated to bring more Americana to these shores. Palava are a home grown talent, musically quite interesting - Smoke and Lies has lovely piano and slide guitar allied to a folksy melody.......Banjos play a prominent part on some tracks and the whistle is heard solo on North by North West. The music recorded in a remote cottage in Ireland has much in common with Tandy in its earthy organic feel, best shown on Wings of Angels that captures a fuller sound with backing vocals and harmonica used to good effect. Listening to this record you see things in muted contrast like tall grass frozen against snow; colours leak with use of banjo..............Crawl is the soundtrack to cracking ice and early morning white breath trails. Roots music with an authentic feel and Celtic touches, a worthy first release on the label - go to www.folkwit.biz to show your support. DC www.americana-UK.com
