An eclectic meandering through time. Trip-hop. Classic rock. Cheezy 80s and disco. Ethereal. Metal. Classical. I get bored of a lot of music hence my 600 + CD collection. Current favs are Morcheeba, Damien Rice, Placebo, and Thievery Corporation.
Movies
Anything dark and sci-fi with a spattering of period films. Childhood favorites: Dune, Bond (the first 15 and 21), Star Wars (there is only one trilogy worth watching). Recent favorites: Gladiator, Spiderman, Memento (the best head trip ever), Batman Begins. Current weirdness: been watching lots of old japanese samurai films. If you have the time, check out the Lone wolf and cub series, and the excellent Zatoichi the blind swordsman both the original series and the remakes are all great.
Television
Battlestar Galactica still rocks!
prison break is nowhere as cool as when it started. eureka is quirky funny cool. dresden files appeal to the D&D geek in me. anything sci-fi. and waay too much discovery and history channel.
Books
i'm going to try to post quickie reviews of books i read on my blog. lets see how long that lasts :)
Heroes
Those who strive to be more. Anyone who was able to survive a full year (and a few who survived more than year) of me as a teacher. People who have learned to love themselves in way I never could.

If you really want to find me, you will find me either training in the gym, or training on the water in Long Beach for my pride and joy, Los Angeles Racing Dragons. A team I helped create and is now going 10 years strong. We are becoming a team that strikes fear into the hearts of other teams. Team LARD

Actually, when they told me to pick a back up job it was one of those, "well, I'll have a degree in biology and this job only requires me to have a scientific degree" options. Turns out it's a pretty decent job in the Navy. I don't have to be on a ship at all and I'll probably get stationed in Pearl Harbor (two things I find as pros to this job).
I'm still planning on med school, though. I just see this as a slight detour towards that goal, lol.
I understand the whole hectic thing. I'm already feeling it and I haven't graduated yet. I guess that's what happens when you sign your life away to the military. Where are you teaching at? Somewhere better, I hope?
active cramming? lol i dunno. if i force an interest in the things i'm studying, it usually works out fine. i just forget the details after the test.
you're always sick when i talk to you. why are you always sick? stop abusing your body!!
i'm studying literature. it's actually just english literature, but i like to act like i'm studying beyond brit/western lit. thinking about med school. which means i need to start hitting them math books again!
what are you up to? how are you businesses going (i hope you're one of the exceptions with the bad economy and all)?
It's had its ups and downs. I'm graduating and commissioning in May. I'm going to be an oceanographer because the Navy thought I would be more useful as that instead of being a doc for them. So yeah, my career path has changed completely for the next 4 years. However, I do get to stay in San Diego so it's not all that bad.
You are going to be so proud of me :) Remember that thing I said I was going to do? Well I finally did it. I made the call, it was quite funny, but at least I did it.
I'm sorry :-( at least when I would screw up in your class, you knew I tried. I think it was the tears that showed that hahah. but even though the math made me miserable, you were an amazing teacher
