About 5MAN (now on iTunes, Amazon, Napster, & Rhapsody)
"If this was your perfect world, what would you be doing?" In an Appleton, WI basement in 2002, 5MAN was formed to address that idea. With a musical style bordering between hard rock and metal, 5MAN uses thick power chords, haunting guitar lines, driving bass, and solid booming percussion to lay the foundation for its socially relevant lyrics, that are delivered in a grisly and melodic manor. Resembling the Deftones, Sevendust, Rage Against The Machine, and System Of A Down, 5MAN is catchy yet raw, allowing them to successfully play with bands who are both lighter and heavier than themselves. Highlighting a long list of bands with whom they have shared the stage are Saliva, Shinedown, Clutch, Cold, RA, Dope, Nonpoint, Pop Evil, and Egypt Central. Recently, 5MAN had an in-store acoustic performance at a Hot Topic store. The band has earned a spot on the area's 1 rock radio station's, Razor 94.7's, Top 5 Bands of 2007 and 2008. 5MAN has solidified itself as one of the best new bands in Wisconsin and is beginning to make the push to expand its current radius and gain a national audience.
2009 is already shaping up to be a big year for 5MAN. With spots on Summerfest and Ernie Ball's Headbang for the Highway Stage on the Music as a Weapon tour, 5MAN is looking to make their mark on the music scene.
"So you're called 5MAN, but why are there are only four people in the band?" The term "5MAN" is a concept that the band developed to help maintain the strict focus needed to achieve their goals. It goes back to the question posed at the beginning of the bio. They believe that if every person asked themselves the question, "If this was your perfect world, what would you be doing?", many answers would spring to people's tongues. The act of actually DOING what you say is often replaced by pre-programmed excuses of how unlikely or financially impractical it would be. By eliminating the desire of excessive, superficial items, the band strips their needs down to the basics. 5MAN symbolizes those basics as the four elements (earth, water, wind and air). With less "things" to clutter their vision, they are able to stay focused on gaining their answer to the question, which is symbolized by their passion for music. By staying focused on the four elements and their passion, they became the men of five, or 5MAN.
