we are organizing a gathering on the Summer Solstice, 19-20 June 2009. (it will be at Dugit Beach, on the beautiful shore of the Sea of Galilee.)* it is called Leshomra - which in Hebrew means "to guard" or "to protect." Leshomra - a gathering of Guardians, Healers and Lovers of the Earth!
the focus for the gathering includes:
* increasing the awareness about the connection between humans and mother earth
* healing and blessing the waters
* healing ourselves and the planet
* meeting of people and groups who care about the planet and Mother Earth - the family
as you know, the Sea of Galilee is the biggest resource of water in Israel, the place where Jesus lived and blessed the people and the earth!
the gathering includes workshops, music and ceremonies for healing the area and the waters.
The Jerusalem Hug, Leshomra, and 5 MILLION PEACE MARCH are linked events. The energy of Harmony, Healing, and Peace that will be created in Leshomra will be carried and brought to the Big Hug in Jerusalem.
participants of the Jerusalem Hug will receive a discount for entering Leshomra Gathering!
* = this info is from 2008's event, so it may have changed! if you can read Hebrew, consult http://leshomra.co.il
the 5 MILLION PEACE MARCH project:
When the politicians cannot solve the problems of the world, it is time for the people to act.
Jerusalem, please open up!
Join the world's largest peace march to Jerusalem, the city of peace!
2009:
the future of 5MPM is up in the air at the moment, so for the time being we are putting all of our eggs in the basket of The Jerusalem Hug. (We're pooling our energies into The Hug, not only joining forces with them!) Invite everyone you know to join us in a circle of Peace, Forgiveness, and Healing around the Old City of Jerusalem/Al-Quds - Israelis, Palestinians, internationals all hand in hand!
SIGN UP NOW!
(Send us your contact info & the location where you can participate in The Jerusalem Hug)
It was the will of people that brought down the Berlin Wall, let's do it again!
the future:
When 5MPM next happens, there will be up to five march routes, depending on how many of you participate! (If you are interested in walking one of these routes, especially one of the last four, please get in touch!) they will be:
> from Jordan
> from Gaza
> from just shy of the Lebanese border
> from just shy of the Syrian border
> from Eilat
Depending on the routes chosen, we will leave from Eilat, from Gaza circa a day later, from King Hussein Bridge on the Jordanian border circa three days later, and from just shy of the Lebanese and Syrian borders circa four days later.
(one option, if the timing of the next 5MPM includes a Friday, is to go to Ramallah and then Bil'in for the weekly non-violent demonstration there against the 'Separation Wall.')
THE JORDANIAN ROUTE:
The march itself will start with a humble gathering just after sunrise in Jordan, 1 km East of the King Hussein Bridge. We will cross the border and proceed to Deir Hajla (which is outside of Jericho), before continuing through Anata to Jerusalem (unless there's another GOTT4EH (Gathering of the Tribes for Earth Healing), in which case we'll turn North and walk along the West Bank/Jordanian border up to Kinneret).
SAFETY:
From Deir Hajla Monastery to Jerusalem the march path will pass though Zones A, B, and C. Zone A is under Palestinian Control. Zone B is under Palestinian Civil Control and Israeli Security Control. Zone C is fully controlled by Israel. All international visitors can easily enter Zones A, B, and C if they are holding the necessary Visa for entering Israel. The entire route will be through safe areas (i.e., away from Israeli military bases and settlements, and through areas of historical interest frequented by tourists).
June is a very hot month in Palestine and Israel, so you are advised to bring suitable clothes, hiking shoes, and water containers. Don't forget your cap or hat! We will try and keep any and all expenses as reasonable as possible, so if you budget for the equivalent of $50 to $100 per day, you should have MORE than enough. Of course we can't guarantee that the situation will be calm during this period of time, and therefore we may have to change plans in order to ensure maximum safety.
THE VISION:
The next 5MPM will witness the latest chapter (the fourth so far) in the quest for the world's largest peace march yet. A march on Jerusalem/Al-Quds, the 'City of Peace.'
This humanistic and peaceful march will mark the will of all people from all countries directly or indirectly involved in the Middle East question.
When national and international leaders cannot stop the violence, cannot end the conflict, it is time for the people of the world to take action and put an end to one of the world's most longstanding conflicts.
All peace lovers from all generations are most welcome to take part in the march. Turn your unmanifested desire to do something for a more peaceful world into concrete reality by truly joining THE MARCH with determination!
World peace is all of our responsibility - the will of the people will prevail!
You can sponsor the march by any means, even if you cannot join physically. As you can imagine, it is a massive project which can use the help of everyone around the world to achieve the maximum result, and the highest number ever to march for world peace. It's a self-organizing project, so your input is most welcome!
Your feedback is crucial:
Let's talk and debate the project. Let us know your vision, and how and what you're willing to contribute, insh'Allah!
This is a wake up call; do not stay out, join now!
Please register your organization and the estimated number of people willing to march to Jerusalem.
Celebrities & peace loving politicians, your help is appreciated too! Make sure to reserve your Summer vacation to come to the Middle East & open up Jerusalem!
(5 MILLION PEACE MARCH is an initiative originally founded by artists and peace activists from Denmark.
In 2006 we had our 'seed' march: at 16:00 (4 pm) on Saturday, 1 July, we met at Jaffa Gate, then silently circled the Old City counterclockwise while waving our flag of peace.
In 2007, we walked from the crossroads of Route 1 & the road towards Ramallah to Anata & Beit Arabia on Sat., 14 July, staying overnight in a guest house run by ICAHD (Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions) which was previously demolished four times. On Sun., 15 July, we walked up the Mount of Olives, past Gethsemane Church, to Damascus Gate, proceeding to circle the Old City of Jerusalem (or Al Quds) counterclockwise before finishing back at Damascus Gate. This was followed by a grand finale concert at Dayla, as well as parallel concerts at Vox Pop in NYC, The Slaughtered Lamb in London, and a symbolic demonstration & concert chez FredsVagt Christiansborg in København.
In 2008, the Israeli authorities stopped one of our main organizers from entering the country (we are still awaiting an explanation from the Ministry of the Interior), so the main event in Jerusalem was seriously compromised. Nevertheless, we linked up with the Gathering of the Tribes for Earth Healing in Galilee-Kinneret on Fri., 20 June and Sat., 21 June. We then linked up with The Jerusalem Hug: on Tues., 24 June we gathered at three locations at 16:00, followed drummers to spread around the walls of the city at 18:00, and then manifested The Jerusalem Hug 2008 at 18:30! This was followed by a grand finale concert at Hebonim Garden (next to Jaffa Gate), at 19:30 (see the 'Music' section above for details). Simultaneous parallel events occurred in Los Angeles, London, København, and Washington state.)
we're always looking for bands & musicians to collaborate with! and for any constructive feedback you have, i.e. anything but silliness like "The fence saves hundred of lives on a daily basis. It will never be removed before terror is exterminated."

(The Jerusalem Hug is an initiative originally created by Israeli visionary Dvora PEARLMAN, which has since grown to encompass the Lovers of Jerusalem, the Jerusalem Hug Foundation, and the Jerusalem Peacemakers.
In May 2007, more than 2,000 Palestinians, Israelis, peace activists and compassionate beings from around the world circled the Old City of Jerusalem (or Al-Quds). They formed dialogue circles, attempted to completely encircle the Old City, shared prayers, and manifested a massive drum circle.
All of this was repeated in June 2008, when more than 2,000 participants manifested the second Hug. At 16:00, we gathered at three meeting points around the Old City to meet and connect with our bigger Lovers of Jerusalem family. (Parking was in Karta Parking Lot and Giva'ti.) Outside the Dung Gate - near the Western Wall, at Habonim Garden - South of Jaffa Gate, and at Palm Tree's Garden (Suk Al Falahin)- West of Damascus Gate. At 18:00, we spread out around the walls of the Old City, forming a human chain. At 18:30, we manifested the Jerusalem Hug (or Big Hug) - a human Hug, surrounding and embracing the walls with shared prayers for Peace, Unity, and a life of Happiness for all beings. At 19:30, we ended the second Jerusalem Hug with a closure gathering at Habonim Garden to share music and blessings. our collaboration with 5 MILLION PEACE MARCH (5MPM) also began that year, so simultaneous parallel events occurred in Los Angeles, London, København, and Washington state.
2009 saw the third Jerusalem Hug, once again with an attendance of roughly 2000. Parallel events occurred once again in Los Angeles, London, & København, and new events saw the light of day in Amman, Jordan & Anchorage, Alaska.)
Who I'd like to meet: Peace lovers of all generations! (Organizations, artists, musicians, NGOs, political parties, unions, peace activists, celebrities, sports figures, children as well as adults, scouts, childrens' clubs, womens' clubs, workers, college and university students, doctors, lawyers, nurses, etc.)

A PERSONSAL THOUGHT
. Listen to how we speak about freedom and you'll gain tremendous insight into our true attitudes about freedom and, therefore, our relationship to one another.All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression;
Ninety percent of the world's woe comes from people not knowing themselves, their abilities, their frailties, and even their real virtues. Most of us go almost all the way through life as complete strangers to ourselves. It is in our hands NOT violence/
