Fifth Sun is a privately held design and distribution company of licensed and private label apparel. It was started over 12 years ago by Dan Gonzales, who had the desire to produce creative graphics that targeted the Hispanic market. Over the years the graphics have expanded to the style conscious masses of all ages and ethnicities for both young men and women. Currently Fifth Sun has over 20 different licenses including Skelanimals, LA Ink, Crusty Demons, WWE, Pepsi, Discovery Channel - Miami Ink, Ben Davis, and Cartoon Network – Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. Dan attributes the company’s level of excellence and success to proper execution. Fifth Sun’s design process always starts with the customer in mind; one thing consistent about the designs is diversity in subject, but consistency in creativity. Fifth Sun is about expressing creativity, pursuing excellence, competing and enjoying life. Fifth Sun has become known for not only the quality of art it produces but also the quality of people who make up the company, and its products speak for themselves. The employees care about their company and the success of their partners and customers.
Fifth Sun is a graphic design and distribution company of licensed and private label apparel. Over the last 12 years, we have learned that above all else, success boils down to execution; some talk about it but we do it. We realize that the success of our partners is our success so we analyze the particular customer shopping in their stores. Our design process starts with the customer in mind and ends when the garment is sampled and has the right look and feel. When you look at our web art, notice our artistic diversity and creativity. Not all stores have the same type of customer, so art and execution must reflect that. Our distribution system consists of a shelf stock program for over 3500 independent stores and most national retailers. The shelf stock program provides us with direct feedback on what is working and allows us to be more responsive to trends in the market. Through the use of a comprehensive Sales Rep program centered around New World Sales, we are able to introduce new products with incredible efficiency and with widespread distribution.
You won’t see a hundred licenses on our website, because we don’t subscribe to this shotgun approach to success. We try to achieve maximum potential for our licensors by not over extending our art capabilities and by devoting the energy necessary to develop creative products that follow their brand objectives. We will continue to push the creative envelope with all of our licenses because that is what we do. Good brands will get you on the shelf, but good execution of a good brand will maximize your potential of staying there.
Fifth Sun started out as Aztlan Graphics in 1994. It was started and is still run by Dan Gonzales who is the chief creative director. Dan was a practicing Civil Engineer when he went into business with his brother, artist David Gonzales to launch the Homies Brand. One year later, they separated, and Aztlan was born. Fifth Sun’s twelve-year history has been about expressing creativity, pursuing excellence, competing and enjoying life. Although we remain deeply rooted in the Hispanic market, Fifth Sun was born out of a desire to produce creative graphics that target the style- conscious masses. All ages, all ethnicities and both young men and women. We have become known for not only the quality of art we produce but also the quality of people who make up Fifth Sun. We care about our company and the success of our partners, and our product speaks for itself.
The Aztecs believed that our universe went through a series of deaths and rebirths and in each age, the world was destroyed through a different agent. This sequence of events was repeated four times, each era beginning with creation, and ending in catastrophic destruction, which then brought about another creation and improved form of life. The four forces that emerged from the four suns previous to ours were represented by the four elements: earth, air, fire and water. Finally, a fifth sun, symbolized by harmonic movement, not an element as the other eras, achieved cosmic stability, thus being able to create the humanity that exists today. We exist in the current time period of the Fifth Sun, and it is marked by constant movement, innovation, and balance because no single force dominates. We chose the name of Fifth Sun because we believe that movement and evolution will be the key to our success and longevity.
