In addition to having their own sound and a second cd of all original material available, 5th Gear also covers the following artists: 3Doors Down, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Alice In Chains, Billy Idol, Black Crowes, Bob Marley, Bush, Buck Cherry, Collective Soul, Cracker, Cream, Finger 11, Foo Fighters, Franz Ferdinand, Fuel, Gavin DeGraw, Georgia Satellites, Godsmack, Guns~N~Roses, Incubus, Jet, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Lenny Kravitz, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Maroon 5, Mountain/Leslie West, Nickelback, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Puddle of Mud, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rolling Stones, Seether, Seven Mary Three, Steppenwolf, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Stone Temple Pilots, Sublime, The Beatles, The Doors, The Killers, The Toadies, Three Days Grace, Tom Petty, Tonic, U2, Van Halen, Velvet Revolver, Weezer & ZZ Top.
5th Gear plays southern tinged mainstream rock n roll. Their musical influences range from ZZ Top to Velvet Revolver. Formed in early 2004, 5th gear has played throughout Southern Florida building an already healthy fan base and international following at hot spots such as the Clevelander Hotel in South Beach Miami, Boston’s in Delray Beach, Roxy’s in West Palm Beach and the Blue Martini in West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale.
5th Gear’s resume includes airplay of their songs Crumble and Long Day on local top rated radio station 103.1 “the buzz” as well as being selected by the station to compete in their annual Buzz Bake Sales Battle of the Bands in 2005. The crew finished in the top 4 of over eighty bands competing. In July 2006, the band played the Thirsty Melon Music Festival in Louisville Kentucky, which was held inside Six Flags playing to several thousand people throughout the day. In January of 2007 the band shared the stage with Jimi Van Zandt and Georgia Satellites at the South Florida BBQ Festival playing to over 1000 BBQ and music fans. Also in 2007 the band played to over 500 people at the Clevelander Hotel for their pre Super Bowl Party that the city of Miami was hosting.
Preferring live gigs to studios, 5th Gear has been honing their stage and performance skills playing 4 nights a week doing covers ranging from Bob Marley to the mighty Zepplin. But their originals are just as powerful. In fact their first full length CD, Waiting For A Sign, is now available. This new material is broadcast quality and radio ready, having been mixed and mastered in Miami by Michael Fuller, who has credits with such national acts as Allman Brothers, Lynard Skynyrd, Eric Clapton, Seven Mary Three and Nonpoint to name a few. The band successfully sells their CD's at live shows but also are successful through Internet sales from sites such as Cdbaby.com and downloads through Apple iTunes, iTunes Europe, iTunes Japan, Napster, MusicNet, MusicNow, Tradebit, Rhapsody and several other popular download sites.
As far as the future is concerned for 5th Gear, they’re now focusing on landing gigs with new venues throughout the country, and hopefully opening for some giant acts later this year.

"The local talent is certainly worthy of national exposure." Rag Magazine - Todd McFliker
"The songs feature a cool retro, yet modern hard rock vibe and contain good riffs and musical and melodic parts and memorable hooks. The strong vocal delivery suits the material very well. The musicianship is tight, solid, driving and fitting and the production sounds good overall." "Crumble has a "nice vibe, ambience about the track - with a real Southern edged melancholy about the melody..." Together in Vain's line "pawned just like jewelry, buyer beware' is a strong line, that people can relate to ... Very Skynyrd like riff, that's a real ass kicker..." About Great Sun, TAXI added, "way to bring on some AC/DC styled riffage to the party! Solid wall of groove, in addition..." Shot Down "has rocking guitars and a great message underneath it all. Nice work!" As far as for the band, it was added: "Thanks for the shot of some good time, whisky soaked, Southern tinged Mainstream Rock...I'll take it as it is, with a Coors Light for a chaser."
