Steps On How to Make A Hip-Hop Beat
Introduction
Introduction of a song is what sets the mood of a song. It is typically 2, 4, or 8 bars long.
Verse
The verse comes before the chorus. It is typically 8-16 bars long.
Chorus
Chorus is the main part of the song that your listener is most likely to remember and hum along to. It should contain the hook, a part of the song that you just cannot forget. It is typically 8-16 bars long.
Break
After a couple of verses and choruses, you might find that you are losing interest in the song. A break is an alternate verse on a different key that offers a break from the monotony of a song. It is typically 4-16 bars long.
Ending
Hip Hop songs usually fade out in endings.
Now that I have covered the various components of a hip hop song, let us put them together or arrange them. This is what arranging a song is about- arranging the introductions, verses, choruses, breaks, and endings. One of the most popular ways of arranging a hip hop song is Introduction, Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, ..., Ending. Let’s now look at how you go about this using a 16-bar verse and 8-bar chorus:
The first step to have a simple song in place is to copy all 24 bars and then paste them after so that you have 48 bars in the song. You now have a basic song structure of verse chorus verse chorus in place. You can now add whatever is required to make a great hip hop song.
You can now either repeat this structure or add a break with an alternate chorus or verse. You can do this by retaining the basic beat and adding or removing tracks that are on a different key.
You can next add another verse and chorus or just a chorus that will fade out to the end of the song.
