NEW CD HEADIN' SOUTH PROMO
Live @ Topanga Fest. 2009
The Last Drive-in Movie
So it finally happened and they closed them all down. Tonight is the last Drive-In movie in this small American town. And they'll shut of the lights and turn off those cheap box speakers that hung in our windows like hands. Connecting us all through a web of wires, while someone's outside the fence watching voiceless words and a twenty foot tall breast.... and I'm looking at the big picture too.... no family outings, no lovers shouting, no head lights , no cold nights, warm blankets and hugs. no soft secret proposals driving backseat dreamers high into ectasy....
Influences

Yup folks, It's a done deal. . It's been almost
3 years since I started this project and all our hard work has finally paid off. Thanks to all the fine folks who helped
make my dream a reality. What an honor it was to work with all these wonderful musicians. Special thanks to Greg
Rutledge who mixed, mastered and played on this CD with great attention to detail. Thanks to Greg Leisz and
Arnold McCuller for squeezing me into their busy schedules and contributing some awesome performances.
Thank you John Lambdin for adding your special musical spice to my stew. Thank you Tina Guo for your sweet
Cello. Thank s to Jack Willoughby for laying down some "killer" drum tracks. Thank you Austin Nicholsen for your
postive energy and tasteful Acoustic bass skills. Thanks to all my family, friends and all the other musical guests -
David Garza played his Udu drum, Ronnie "The Wolf" Wolfson doubled some acoustic guitars and the "sassy"
Laurine Carreon sang along here and there. Thank s to my friend & illustrator Dale Sizer for creating the cool art
work for the cover. I think that's everybody... oh yeah, thanks to my Mom and Dad for turning me on to folk music
and the joy of performing And of course thank to Jennifer, my wife and
best friend who supported me throughout all of this. 'Hope there is something here y'all can enjoy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------......................................................... Brad released his first solo CD “The Last Drive-In Movie” on Arena Records in 1996. The acoustic album received acclaim for it's unique use of music, spoken word and poetry. Since then he’s performed in many groups, most notably “Bandwagon”, which opened for “Asleep At That Wheel” and Peter Case. Brad also played mandolin for “Girl George & The Dragons” an artist whose music can only be described as "Folk Punk" George is best known from the act "George and the Arizona Star" and is the subject of the song "Arizona Star" by Guy Clark- Also in the group for a time was fiddler Naomi Ruth Eisenberg (original member of "Dan Hicks & The Hot Licks") and guitar wiz Honey Davis (known for work with blues legend Solomon Burke and Charles Brown). For 3 years running, Brad won awards for Best Traditional Singing at the Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest and Folk Festival. Techno Cowboy is Brad's latest alter-ego adventure in which explores the use of toy instruments, omnichord, theremin, circuit bending, loops and samples while staying true to his folk & blues roots. He has just released a CD under the name Techno Cowboy called The Ziggy Stardust Omnichord Album, a remake of David Bowie's classic record . More at www.bradstubbs.com

Group of us sat and listened to Headin' South the other night and agreed that all 15 tracks are excellent, but 'This Old Car' and 'Slowly Away' were the acknowledged standouts. Truly great songs you sly, soulful, tuneful son-of-a-South-headin' so-and-so!
