But what are you supposed to do when your mixed-meter rock and scream-singing is conducive to the raw power of a wall of sound? Turn down? Yeah, right. ..Saturday, the band's going to press its luck with another show, joined by local hard-rocking outfits Farewell Division and The Ghost Armada. With the help of Martini's resident music-masher DJ Dave Elliott, it should be another solid chance to exercise your music trivia knowledge, get some use out of your ear plugs and feed that insatiable appetite for blistering rock 'n' roll. Great Unwashed guitarist Sean Kuhl says the band's got some free demos to hand out as well. ..Free show and free demos? Now all you need to do is try and sweet talk the bartender into some free drinks. Good luck with that one.".......... ......

Influences
The Great Unwashed is a New York City based Rock trio who have been captivating the Staten Island music scene. In addition to their constant local shows, “TGU” has been earning new fans with every gig played in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Guitarist and singer Sean Kuhl, drummer Scott Jacobi, and bassist Anthony Scuderi became a three piece late in 2007; after a fourth band member left the group. Honing their new sound as a trio, the members of The Great Unwashed are proud descendants of their heroes: Fugazi, Hüsker Dü, and Dinosaur Jr. Singer Sean Kuhl’s shout/ talk vocals connect casual storytelling with frustrated cynicism amongst the band’s signature melodic refrains. Jacobi and Scuderi hold down tight rhythmic grooves and make light of frequent time signature changes, while Kuhl’s riotous yet precise guitar solos define this ambitious Rock outfit.
Sounds Like
One plane crashing into another plane... while Sean sings whatever makes sense at the moment! and Scott smacking skins (unmitigatedly?)... and Scuds in his own world driving bass lines home to Jesus.
