Waylon has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old. He is originally from the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in South Dakota and is Lakota and Mexican. His unique style is derived from Blues and Rock'n'Roll and he writes his own original songs and plays kickass covers of artists like Jimmy Hendrix and SRV (a couple of his influences.) Waylon started playing in a band with George & the MC's, headed by Uncle George Mendoza in South Dakota and continues to play with them when possible. Waylon lives in Seattle and is playing with Daisy Chain, a new band started by Waylon and Leilani, also a Seattle-ite originally from Alaska. You can catch Daisy Chain giggin' throughout Seattle...

Just thought I would share an old video I mmade talking about this place in Seattle, Washington called the Chief Seattle Club that provides a "Sacred Space" for Natives to gather regardless of where you come from. the video is of myself, Robert Upham, conversing with to Lummi Indians Marc Taylor & Justin Finkbonner. Marc Taylor lent me his camera to do alot of the filming i did with this Harlem Indian Project. Thanks Marc. And Justin did alot to make me feel like family. He invited me to family cook outs, fireworks displays, & his Dad allowed me to ride with him to get some footage for the Savage Family video I did. Anyway....these are to brothers that I miss now that I am in South Dakota. The Dakotas call them Koda's. the video is jjust me talking to them. And I am reposting it to tell everyone that I appreciate their friendship. And...And I hope we continue to have more like them in our Native communities. "All My Relations!!"
