Sounds Like
an organic mixture of new age folk/rock with new age upbeat tempo's and rythms. the sound is produced by one man, yet contains a very wholesome and full quality.
Scott MacDonald is a one man band phenomenon that is from a small farm town in Ontario but has been based out of Fredericton NB for the past five years. Currently Scott resides in the beautiful city of Montreal.
MacDonald has shared the stage with several fantastic musical acts from across North America like That 1 Guy, David Rovics, Hey Rosetta!, The Burning Hell, Laura Barret (from the Hidden Camera’s), and Ron Leary just to name a few.
Scott MacDonald plays a gritty and driven style of folk/rock. His songs focus on issues of love, nature, social justice, spirituality, and mythology.
MacDonald’s diverse tones and passionate songwriting have earned him the recognition and respect of Canadian rock legend Sam Roberts and political folk icon David Rovics.
Scott’s live act consists of him pounding away at 2 foot drums (bass and high hat) while his upbeat guitar strums along with his howling vocals and strong sessions of harmonica. MacDonald rotates between 3 guitars (acoustic, electric, and electric slide) at the show and plays a wide variety of African mallet drums.
Storm (Nov 2007) is Scott MacDonald’s latest release and was hailed by HERE magazine as being an extremely diverse record that showcases the essence of MacDonald’s music without a flaw. The record utilizes Scott’s entire range of musical abilities without compromising unity within the album. Song’s like “Go” and “She Treats Me Right” are timeless love ballads that reflect true emotions of love and loss, while songs like “Take the Streets” and “Strings from the Heavens” are powerful rock songs that pay homage to MacDonald’s roots of social justice.
Scott MacDonald is currently hard at work on his third album. MacDonald has high hopes for this new disc and thus a release date is not yet accessible. However, his new song “Coming Home” is accessible and has been recently made available online.
