"61 South" is the fastest route out of the Blue Mountains of Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. "61 South" also happens to be the fastest rising blues band in those same Blue(s) Mountains. "61 South" is a 3 piece rocking blues band powered by the bluesy sounds of the steel guitar. The members of "61 South" are veterans of the PA/NJ/NY music scene having opened for many major, national acts over their 50 plus years of collective musical experience. "61 South" features the swinging, Chicago-blues style drumming of John Goba, the rock solid bass foundation of Kate Koch and the fiery steel guitar sounds and rugged vocals of Sterling Koch.
The unique sound of the steel guitar in a blues format is what sets this band apart from other blues bands. This is not your typical steel guitar sound. Far from it. Think Duane Allman, Elmore James or Robert Randolph with as solid a rhythm section as you will find. Playing powerhouse blues/rock music by Z.Z. Top, George Thorogood, The Allman Brothers and more as well as original blues/ rock, "61 South" is sure to rock your blues away.
your playing reminds me so much of zztop and the almond brothers. it makes me want to get my brother to start playing with a slide on his guitar and us to play some more blues like you
