61Syx Teknique

61Syx Teknique is a devoted and talented group of individuals who find numerous common passions in dance and uplifting the community by shedding positive light on the hip hop culture. Friends before crew-mates Teknique is a family. With an impressive resume already under their belt including shows for B2K, Lloyd Banks, Fat Joe, but never finding any show too small, 61Syx has also been a part of numerous charity events, church fundraisers, and art showcases.

61Syx is a part of the Coleman entertainment group which calls for them to perform at colleges across the nation. With the goal of keeping hip hop spirit alive, 61Syx offers a 45 minute performance and hour long workshop to take you through a timeline of the evolution of the street dance known as "BBoying". From the beginning times in the 1970's through the boom in the 80's, all the way up to the newest styles of footwork, powermoves, freezes, and battle tactics. "...61Syx has found ways to outlet all of their thoughts and emotions through a physical sense, and it's not only one of the most entertaining things to watch, but it's also extremely educational..."

The goal of the crew is to continue the cultural growth of hip hop, by keeping it positive. Attempting to help mold the minds away from the stereotypical "gangsta rap" mindset that the media has portrayed hip hop to be. Very easily, will you come to see that the culture is much more than that, as well as see everybody's individual styles expressed through their dance. Being on the brink of summer, you can prepare to see 61Syx in it's entirety at Blues on The Mall Every Wednesday night on the corner of Pearl and Monroe. Across from Rosa Parks Circle. We begin jammin at about 6pm and there's no telling when we'll stop. This year marks the 5 year anniversary of 61Syx Teknique so prepare for a bunch of suprises this year at Blues!
