    EpilepticGibbon's Interests
GeneralI have no interests. Interests are for wimps... though of course you realise that I'm prone to wild fits of falsehood and I'm probably telling porkies even as I type this... or am I?!

BooksI read less books than I'd like to. I struggle to find the time. I read a lot for my job so when I'm tired it's often the last thing I want to do. I read a lot of comics, which is a good half-way house – reading but usually less taxing. When I do read for pleasure (and not work) it's usually fiction novels: sci-fi, fantasy, horror, comedy, and thrillers mostly. Douglas Adams' stuff, particularly The Hitchhikers trilogy. I'm also very partial to The Lord of the Flies, The Outsiders, Red Dragon/The Silence of the Lambs, Weaveworld, The Midwich Cuckoos, Charlotte's Web, Ian Fleming, Robert Rankin, and Doctor Who novels (particularly those by Kate Orman, Paul Cornell, Lance Parkin and Lawrence Miles). I've just finished reading the last of the Harry Potter books; I found it a little disappointing but it's been a good series and I'll miss reading them.
HeroesJim Henson, the Genesis boys, the Monty Python team, my parents and my brother. Anyone that has followed their heart and made the world a better place.

About me:
There are a number of unpopular misconceptions in the world. One of which is that the first lines of Mein Kampf read: "As I write this I find myself in prison. Drat! That's gonna put my plans for world domination back a bit."

There are other unpopular misconceptions, and some of them are even about me. I hope to crush some of these in the paragraphs to come… however, you may have to wait a bit for them. Please be patient. In the meantime, check out the music of some of my friends below. They're a talented bunch and much deserving of your support.

Don't forget to check out my music podcast show (CLICK HERE), devoted to the best mixture of independent and small label prog rock, art rock, post rock, prog metal, jazz rock, folk rock, downtempo, chill-out, ambient electronica, IDM, chamber pop, and experimental/avant garde music. If you're an artist/band and would like your music to be featured on the show then let me know via the usual routes. If I like your music then I'd love to play it and help promote you. If you like my show then spread the word.

Reviewing policy: I'm a freelance music reviewer in my spare time and I write for the Progressive Ears website (http://www.progressiveears.com), and I've previously written for Organ music magazine (http://www.organart.demon.co.uk/neworgan.htm) and for www.the13th.org/, plus many of my reviews have ended up on artists' websites too. At the end of each year I send out a countdown of the best albums of the year (IMHO) to assorted friends, radio DJs, websites and musicians. If you'd like me to review your CD please drop me a message via any of the usual routes. To get an idea of the sort of things I like and I'm likely to review please look at my friends list and my list of favourite artists. I tend to review 'new' albums, i.e. those from the current year, but I will consider reviewing older albums.
Who I'd like to meet:
God, I guess. Lots of people too. The actors who have played The Doctor… just a silly fan-boy thing really but I met Jon Pertwee shortly before his death and I've met Paul McGann and, just recently, Colin Baker too. That leaves Tom, Peter, Sylvester, Christopher, and David. Sorry if I'm boring you now.

Dear friend,
Photobucket
I cannot thank you enough for your kind support and friendship! Welcome to
our ever growing family of friends. I'm really happy you have decided to
become friends of the Wake Up (to child abuse) MySpace Music page. Just by
adding us to your friends you have already demonstrated that you have a good
heart and are willing to take a step towards ending the hidden suffering of
so many.
We also dare to hope you will be able to persuade some of your other MySpace
friends to join our just fight against child abuse by adding us to their
friends too. The larger our family of friends becomes, the more people we
will be able to reach and educate about this terrible ‘disease’ sweeping
across the world which blights the lives of more children than you may
imagine. Please take a moment to read some of the statistics on child abuse
highlighted on our profile and within our blogs. I am sure you will be just
as shocked and appalled as we are when you find out the full extent of this
scourge.
The innocent children suffering such terrible abuse need all the help they
can get. Increased awareness of this foul concealed crime will help to
prevent more children living through the agonising torment which I was
forced to experience.
I hope you have a sunday and look forward to hearing from you soon with
your views and comments on this important issue,
Ralph
