Dave Smith and Dave McAfee are both originally from Oklahoma. Smith being from Altus, and McAfee hailing from Lawton. 62 West is the state highway that connects the two towns in a virtual straight line. Their careers have been linked in a similar line. Although Dave and Dave both began their professions in Oklahoma, they each spent successful years on the Texas roadhouse circuit, often in competing bands. Eventually, both moved to Nashville as their careers grew. Dave Smith, while enjoying a successful songwriting and session career, has spent plenty of time on the road with acts such as Kevin Sharp, and as bandleader for Mel McDaniel. Dave McAfee logged many years touring and recording for acts such as Bryan White and Wade Hayes, and has spent the last 7 years drumming for Toby Keith's Easy Money Band. Dave and Dave have done countless recording sessions together. Both have appeared many times on television and radio, and on the Grand Ole' Opry stage. The two have been friends for over 10 years. The resulting collaboration has been in the making for a long while. Both Daves have worked together as producers, singers, musicians, and friends. After many requests to release some of their material, their first CD is finally here. It is only natural that they have called themselves and their first record " 62 West ".
