  • Bio

In college I was making an animated film using GI-Joes as musicians. It was so difficult syncing the action to the music that I said to myself, "It would be easier to learn to play a real instrument than doing this!" So I bought a Harmony electric guitar for $30 and immediately embraced the joys of feedback and distortion. I soon discovered that amateur guitarists are a penny a dozen, so I bought a bass, then drums and finally a synth and a four track recorder to increase my desirability in the eyes of better musicians. After over 2 decades of slugging it out with countless rehearsals, auditions, band breakups and lousy gigs, I'd had enough. Then I met this wonderful woman who got me out of the bars and into the church. She later became my wife and the dive bar gigs have become a thing of the past and all the music I do now is dedicated to the glory of God. The last chapter of the story was when I met this strange little Japanese woman who gave me a Sony sample CD when she heard I used to do some recording. I checked it out and within an hour I discovered the wonder of modern looping technology! When my church recorded an in-house CD the same year I made quick friends of the engineer who showed me that it was possible to record professional quality songs with a very limited budget and it's been full speed ahead ever since. ............................................................................... My CD "Guitarlic Spoken Here" is on sale NOW for the totally stupid price of only $2.75+ shipping! After years of having an international virtual band consisting of my internet friends, I've finally put together an actual group of talented local musicians all playing together in real time!
  • Influences

The pivotal point in my musical life was when I was on vacation at my uncle's house in Chicago in the summer of '73. The album that was on the turntable and was in constant rotation the entire time I was there was The World Is A Ghetto by War. The hit song that summer was Cisco Kid. I was a junior in high school at the time and that song just seemed so incredibly real and cool! Unlike the slick smooth love songs at the time. On the plane flight home to California the airline had music you could listen to through headphones and the two groups I listened to for 2000 miles were Yes and Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. I thought this was the greatest music ever created! I was shocked watching the Grammy awards that year that War, Yes and ELP didn't all win a dozen Grammies! That same magical summer I also discovered The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Santana, Frank Zappa and the Mothers Of Invention and later I discovered Jeff Beck, Terje Rypdal and Allan Holdsworth. From then on I was ruined for life of ever becoming a pop star and being known for doing "nice" pop songs. All of this melded together to combine with my Christian faith to create music that inspires the good in people and moves them in ways that are unexpected, real and FUN!
  • Sounds Like

If Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana and Allan Holdsworth all discovered Jesus and decided to all go to the same Church, I imagine the band would sound something like this!
