OBSCURA’s highly-anticipated new album Omnivium sees the critically-acclaimed quartet cementing their place amongst the all-time metal-elite. Omnivium finds the band pushing the progressive edges of the genre’s sounds to new heights while delivering the technical metal that has become their calling card. The band gracefully blends brutality and beauty with complex, commanding songs played at stunningly virtuosic levels. Tracks such as album opener “Septuagint”, “Vortex Omnivium”, “Euclidean Elements” and “Celestial Spheres” are expressive and elaborate, and exude class and the confidence of a band at the peak of their abilities. Ominivum very clearly raises the bar for extreme, technical metal and is OBSCURA’s finest moment to date.

The band caused a stir when they – out of nowhere – toured as support for Suffocation on their European tour in 2006 and when they independently released their debut album 'Retribution' that same year. After several lineup changes, Kummerer enlisted a new team of virtuoso musicians consisting of Christian Muenzner (ex NECROPHAGIST) and Hannes Grossmann (ex NECROPHAGIST, BLOTTED SCIENCE). With their break through album 'Cosmogenesis' Obscura cracked the US Billboard charts and embarked their first worldwide tour visiting North America, Europe and Japan. With the release of 'Omnivium' the band prooved their status as a unique group of talented musicians and set new standards in the genre of progressive death metal. The group's latest addition, bassist Linus Klausenitzer (NONEUCLID), came into the ranks in early 2011.Together they have created their vision of the future of extreme metal. A symbiosis of death, thrash and black metal merged with progressive and technical elements as well as complexe song structures. Entering US & European charts with their latest release, the 'Omnivium Worldtour' started with it's release in March 2011. -
