   Andrew Holmes's Blurbs
About me:

I have just finished my fourth novel, called Rain Dogs and Love Cats, which is due out in July. It's about a wedding DJ who becomes embroiled in something nasty. Here is some blurb about it. (The very blurb, in fact, that will apear on the back of the book.)

Somehow Charlie’s found himself back in the suburb he grew up desperate to get out of, playing the same old records to groups of pissed-up punters at weddings and 40th birthday parties. He loves his wife and the new baby but it wasn’t meant to be like this.

Early one morning he learns that his brother has been involved in a fatal accident. It turns out that Leo, a seasoned Tom Waits impersonator, had been running a dodgy detective agency on the side. His last case involved a missing dog. As Charlie picks up the investigation he discovers a trail which leads uncomfortably close to home…

With his trademark ability to skewer people, with all their vanities and weaknesses, to the page, Andrew Holmes delivers a darkly funny and compelling detective story that shows just how hard it is to forget the past.

Rain Dogs and Love Cats is out in July. Out now is 64 Clarke, which is here

It had a lot of love from the national press. The Daily Telegraph said:

"He bombards the reader with fresh, funny observations in a style both wry and poignant. He has grasped that hip young writers' grail - becoming the "British Elmore Leonard" - by imitating not Leonard but PG Wodehouse writing a particularly fine episode of Eastenders."

I love that bit about PG Wodehouse writing EastEnders.

The full review is here, beneath a review of Simon Reynolds' superb Rip It Up And Start Again, in which The Fall appear.

Even The Sun was shining on 64 Clarke. Natasha Harding, who must be a very wonderful person, said, "This novel is fast paced, full of suspense and has flashes of black humour- as you would expect from a critically acclaimed author. A brilliant, dark read that will keep you up all night turning pages."

Does modesty prevent me from mentioning The Times? Does it buffalo.

"This character, Chick, is worthy of Martin Amis at his scatalogical best. The ingenuity with which the author interweaves their respective stories with that of the Snape family is considerable and his charaterisations and descriptions of the grimy reality of 21st century urban life are admirably deft. The ending is wholly satisfying: a morality tale without moralising."

That review is here. See? I'm not making these up.

The Sunday Times also reviewed it. That review (less glowing but broadly speaking positive is here

Also out are Sleb, which was all about a guy trying to kill Robbie Williams, except I had to rename him Felix Carter for legal reasons (I hope I can say that), which was also really well received; and All Fur Coat, er, which didn't get the same kind of attention. Not that you should ignore it. It's a damn fine read.

Reviews and details about those can be found at my hopelessly out-of-date website that I plan on updating very soon, at here

So. All I need to do now is get on with writing Unlimited Trips To The Buffet.

Easy, you'd think...

Happy Holidays! Hope you’re enjoying the season so far. Seems it has been quite some time since I spent some time on Myspace. I have been busy altering my website at www. tonycowger. com to reflect my newest efforts in the freelance and ghost writing markets and focus less on my own novel. Anyway, I hope the rest of your year is wonderful and that the new year holds all the abundance you want. If you or someone you know is in need of some writing help please send them my way at www. tonycowger. com. (For any help I receive from my Myspace friends I am offering a 10% finders fee to say thank you for helping out a friend so be sure to write and let me know in case your friend forgets to tell me. If you hire me yourself, that 10% would be taken off what you pay so, either way, you win.) I have experience in writing sales ads/presentations, non-fiction and, of course, fiction.
Thanks and happy holidays!

This is so nice. It goes right along with the chambers and tunnels discovered under Charmaine Alexandria Fodder's estate in Hamptons NY. The things they find you guys....OMG!
Read this Book Description (formally called "Annotation"):
Black Espionage in Urban Life- Who knew a 1-800 paid this well? Teela Winters-Evers' 'Ho-9,' is an unusual hood tale involving street gangsters vs. political gangsters going head up in an all out battle for millions, land and lust. What do a trio of hood chicks from Brooklyn, a tranny and his freaky, elderly mother from Chelsea, two drug dealers facing life on Riker's Island, a wheelchair bound, Chocolatier billionaires, and a gigolo gangster from the south have in common? The Phone! From Manhattan to the Hamptons, lines are ringing, dirt is flinging, and golf clubs are swinging as the Ho-9 uncovers the New York truth. Only they know the real you on the other end as ring-tones jingle in this town. After it's all said and done, who will get the whole nine on the ninth hole? From the first cuss word down to the very last ho, baby, this is a Classic. Catch a good signal, and don't drop the call, because phone sex never felt so powerful.
