    Tali's Interests
General
Photography. Staring. Pho-to-gra-phy: concert, portraiture, aerial, abstract, travel. Digital image manipulation. Books: early printing, incunabula. Music, listening and playing. Linguistics. Social psychology/sociology. History of the Crusades. Being poisonous about 'democracy', mass media, religion, wars, education, marriage and various other tenets of the system. Bitching about other people's bad grammar. Cinematography. Screenwriting. Other writing. Antique dolls and old pianos. Vast open spaces. Airports. SEA. Dreaming. Slanted sunlight on early evenings. Thunderstorms. Absurdities. Half-real landscapes. Swimming, biking, walking walking walking. And yeah - Formula 1!
Music
Bach. Beethoven. Chopin. Jan Garbarek. RADIOHEAD. Massive Attack. Tom Waits. David Sylvian. Jeff Buckley. Tim Buckley. Angelo Badalamenti. Zemfira. Aphex Twin. Autechre. Imaginary Johnny. Buck 65. Blonde Redhead. Cocteau Twins. David Bowie. Scott Walker. Lhasa. Tori Amos. The Postal Service. Air. Tricky. This Mortal Coil. Billy MacKenzie. Dead Can Dance. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Goran Bregovic. Four Tet. U2 - very selectively. Tim Booth/James. Terje Rypdal. Grandaddy. An occasional cheesy pop song.

What David Lynch makes. Else... Down in the Valley. Naked. Par-dela les Nuages. Sex, Lies and Videotape. Brokeback Mountain. 25th hour. The Illusionist. American Beauty. Donnie Darko. Winter Sleepers. Princess and the Warrior. Reflecting Skin. Fight Club. Passion of Darkly Noon. The Good Girl. Waking Life. Fanny & Alexander. 2001: A Space Odyssey. The Man Who Fell To Earth. Bladerunner. Amores Perros. Magnolia. Simon Magus. Birth. Twin Falls Idaho. Northfork. The Secretary. Mysterious Skin. One Night Stand. The Order. Stay. The Hidden. Se7en.
Television
Multisystem. Now flat.
Books
Dictionaries, which are the most amazing toys ever invented. Else... Idries Shah. Paul Bowles. Jonathan Lethem. Andrey Platonov. Frank Herbert - Dune. Carlos Castaneda. Cormac McCarthy. C.G. Jung. Oscar Wilde. J.D. Salinger. Anthony Burgess. Peter Ackroyd. Jeffrey Eugenides. Stanley Donwood. Assorted texts on social psychology, sociology, religion. Assorted folk fairytales, non-adapted.
Heroes
Heroes? Rather, people of great heart and dignity, those who left a mark. Out of public eye... my mother and father. My imaginary sister who carried off half of my heart. Nicola, who taught me English and mind-games. Georgy Ivanovich, who taught me how to be a human even if I wasn't the greatest pupil. And George, my warm blanket. Also, Drüg who I think (?) is my guardian angel. In the public eye... Thom E. Yorke as an antenna. Jonathan Greenwood as a musician. David Lynch as a seer. Loretta Lux. Rocky Schenck and Gerhard Richter as visionaries. To voice twins Eddie and Robert: thank you, Eddie and Robert. I sleep better now.

About me:

! A word about requests, folks. If you are a band, please consider adding Junkmedia instead of me (I work there). More use for everyone, honest. However, I'll sure talk to you if you need to have your pictures taken or artwork done.

I'm a photographer.
I think I came to watch. Frankly, can't do much else, lens is my eyes and occasionally even hands. Would like to fancy myself among those in the third Pythagorean tier - happy people who are lookers-on at the games. Pythagoras thought them most advanced of all though, ranking above those who buy and sell and above those who compete. Enlightened I'm not, but I stare. A lot. Um... sorry if I made you uncomfortable. Humans are the curiouser subjects, earth from way above is not half bad either, 15th century books rock. Work I've done includes photographing Radiohead, Pixies, David Byrne, Air, Cure, Bright Eyes and various other music acts. And that dork with a camera glued to the illuminator on a plane is me.

...um, I'm a staff photographer at Junkmedia now. Visit sometime. We're good.

...else, I run a mean exclusive rather cozy Radiohead message board called Revolving Doors II. And you can find a shitload of my Radiohead pictures, as well as a few other objects of interest, at Cloudcuckooland. It hasn't been updated for ages and is missing pictures from Ether festival, from the UK May 2006 shows and the two recent (first + second) New York City shows. That was a lot of linking. Meep.

I'm also an antiquarian book dealer.
A rare, dusty old-fashioned profession that I'm delighted to be a part of - and that, incidentally, keeps me fed. Mostly dealing in incunabula, though not shunning any fine rare volume. Old books are, by today's standards, freak miracles of non-disposable design. Which thing of what I buy now will be around in 530 years - tight, bright, and clean? Sad but true, they don't make them like that anymore. And there are various oddities and ghosts to be found pressed between pages.

I like to pretend that I'm a musician, but that drifted into the murky sea of wishful thinking. I write (questionable) music, play piano and sing (weirdly), and am loosely associated with Species 8472 project. A track I co-wrote and recorded with them, Green Sky, was recently chosen for Earth Monkey/Talking Monkey's Falling compilation. Green Sky is half-sung, half-spoken piece, mostly in Russian.

Else, I can design a mean webpage, assemble furniture and make pancakes.

Who I'd like to meet:
(If I added you and you don't know me, I was probably too shy to say hello with my mouth.)

(If you added me and I don't know you... be good, send a message, say why you want to be a friend.)

thanks. people the world over tell me they've seen it, and aside from the small preview on JPG's site, it seems i'm the only one who hasn't. i guess the postal service sucks or everyone there is on vacation or something.

hey nat.
recent times were at least as hectic and random as my flickr stuff will have you believe.

the buck 65 craziness would be even worse if last.fm had statistics for the CDs i play in my car. talking honky blues is some of the best driving music ever.
