THE
TROJANS (Afro Celtic Ska 11 piece band led by the legendary Gaz mayall)
Specialising in ska & reggae with a dash of soul, funk, R&B,
irish folk and world roots, The Trojans were formed in late 1986 by the elder
son of British Blues legend John Mayall. Several
albums were licensed to Japan from '88 with 'Spirit of Adventure' on Sony
records, opening up an avenue of succesive tours with mainstream coverage to
a large audience where they are still very popular today. The Trojans tour
often mainly in Europe and do lots of one-off special shows at festivals,
clubs, bars and private parties being popular with the young and old and people
of all cultures to suit our multicultural day and age.
TA
MERE (Jazz cabaret / 1920-30-40's popular music, french ball musette, gipsy swing,
jump jive, russian and balkan traditionals, bluegrass, celtic music)
Ta Mère - 3 guys-about-town, on the town, getting down and swinging
hard. A creation by special request of the BBC for the 2007 Glasgow Film Festival,
they've catapulted from these auspicious beginnings directly onto the London
scene. Embrace the sultry evening, suffused with the hint of yesteryear and
awash with a fresh undercurrent crackling and sparkling away. Champagne flutes
fully charged, and the ice cubes clinking happily in their tumblers, dance those
troubles away to the latest sensation. Spanning all from the slow grind, through
jump jive and touching on the jazzy boogie and eclectic points in between, allow
Ta Mère to escort you away from the mundane and sweep you up into a state
of bubbling hilarity and joy as the joint gets jumpin'. Laissez les beaux temps
rouler...
The Skamonics are an 8 piece jazz meets ska band, playing a unique mix of two
tone, ska, jazz and completely unexpected covers.
Imagine Herbie Hancock jamming with The Specials, or if Kraftwerk were from
Kingston Jamaica... Sharp suits, silly hats and a killer horn section made up
of some of London's top jazz and ska musicians, the key to the Skamonic sound
is that it appeals to so many different ages and backgrounds. From reggae fans
to jazz heads, to people who just want to dance, the skamonics put a smile on
most faces. Kids (of all ages) love it.
MOGADOR (album - Gnawa All Stars) Gnawa (or Gnaoua) fusion - world music from Morocco.
This is a fusion band about acoustic traditional north
african spiritual music mixed with groove and modern instruments. Gnawa music
is a very ancient spiritual music played by brotherhoods of nomadic musicians.
JOHNJOHN(album - JohnJohn) Three piece pop band based in London.
European blend of pop ballads, acoustic tunes with
Latin feel, and guitar anthems; warm soulful voices casting a reflection of
modern life packed with emotion and satire.
Hello! A rare chance to see the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists in London next Sunday 27th April; Dublin Castle, Camden, 8pm £5. We will hopefully be doing some performances in the streets around Camden during the day, it'd be great if you could make it, more the merrier etc...
Hi, merci beaucoup for being my friend. I hope to see you on sunday evening in Brick Lane, it's going to be vibrant (at the Vibe Live ;-) Ahahaha a).
Tricity Vogue's Cheeky jazz (sexy 1920-30-40s 7 piece live band), but also: Lenka Padysakova's 1940s Fashion show (Beautiful dresses and pearls, high heels, stockings with seams, red lipstick and expensive perfumes), Superstar Dj CountSizzle (Antique sleaze & vintage voodoo) playing his collection of rare 78s on his gramophones.
I love your new band Ta Mere, very funny! It has inspired me to start a band called Ton Sal Oncle playing only instruments made out of large water melons and onions
