Born and raised in New York but now living in Los Angeles, Martinez made his way to California to live the decadent lifestyle of a rock star and, somewhat less importantly, to attend U.C.L.A.
His first foray into the world of professional songwriting began in 1994, when he was offered a single song contract by Seymour Glass/EMI publishing.
Martinez was a finalist in the 2007 American Idol songwriting contest for his song "Waking in a Dream", an experience he describes as "the gnarliest roller coaster ride of my life."
More recently, Martinez won the Grand Prize in the 12th Annual Unisong contest, edging out thousands of entries from both amateur and professional writers and inked a four song licensing deal with Crucial Music in Los Angeles.
In July of 2009, he signed a publishing deal with Country songwriting legend Charlie Craig and Power Play Publishing for his composition "Watch Her Fly" which he co-wrote with Rolf Schnyder.
His most recent work was featured in the NBC production of "Tom Brokaw Presents... American Character Along Highway 50."
Focusing in the areas of Pop/Rock, Adult Contemporary as well as Contemporary Country music, he looks forward to collaborating with the great artists and writers in these genres.
