Da gibt es Murat IV., der angeblich den Dichter Nefii erdrosseln ließ, weil er gerade in dessen Werken las, als ihn beinahe ein Blitz traf. Oder Ibrahim, der zum Zeitvertreib von einem Turm des Topkapi Palastes auf Passanten schoss. Oder Mahmut II., der eines Tages die Bäuche aller seiner Pagen aufschlitzen ließ, weil ihm aus dem Palastgarten eine seiner geliebten Gurken gestohlen worden war.

The rose upon the sword is in solidarity for the gallant people of Turkey: Right shall blunt the terrorists' sword!
The Maiden Tower, perched upon a rock the middle of the blue Marmara Sea and embroidered with many, timeless legends, is my favorite spot in Istanbul, aka Constantinople, the Queen City which has majestically straddled Europe and Asia for almost 2 millennia.
