Bio
(A).P.P.L.(E). re-banded in March 2006 due to hearing our cover version of "Blowing In The Wind" being played every Friday on Jerry Springer's now defunct Air America radio show. Jae Monroe (vocalist and co-founder) called in the show and was put on the air with Jerry who asked Jae if A.P.P.L.E. would be willing to reunite after 18 years and play a few shows. We played our first reunion show on September 14, 2006. The next week we played our 2nd reunion show at CBGB's on the 23rd. Both gigs were packed and the response we receieved was so great that Jae was encouraged to continue on with A.P.P.L.E. for more than just a few shows! It has now been over 2 years since A.P.P.L.E. came back on the music scene and boy what an experience it has been and will continue to be so! .... A.P.P.L.E. originally formed in the fall of 1984 by the brother & sister team of Vinny Apple (vocals, bass) and Jae Monroe (vocals). We were heavily inspired by the UK peace punk movement of the early 80's and set out to create a band in that style, music and message, and were probably NYC's first ever peace punk band. We released our first demo cassette tape, "Rather Dull," in 1985 which was recorded live off the soundboard from our rehearsal studio. We played various clubs and numerous benefit shows for the causes we believed in. In early 1986, we released our 2nd demo, "Neither Victims Nor Executioners" this time at an 8 track studio. In 1987 we recorded our first 7 inch vinyl Ep, "A Sensitive Fascist Is Very Rare" and every gig we played after the Ep's release drew bigger & bigger crowds which made us extremely happy to find so many like minded souls who also really dug our music. .... In 1988 we recorded & released our first 12 inch vinyl album, "Plutocracy." Shortly after the record's release Vinny and Jae decided to take some time off from playing in A.P.P.L.E. in order to pursue different interests. We never imagined that it would be 18 years before we played on stage together again. .... In the mid '90's our vinyl recordings and cassettes were pressed onto CD and opened up a whole new audience for us as well as giving our old fans a better medium to hear our music. We toyed with the idea of reuniting the band a few times over the years but it took hearing ourselves on Jerry Springer's Radio Show to get us back in action. And it still blows our minds that out of all of the celebrities out there who could have inspired us to reunite, it was a celebrity like Jerry Springer! .... We are very excited to be playing live again, it sure has been one helluva trip and we are grateful for all the love & support we continue to recieve from people all over the world. .... ....
