Frank Muzzy (Jason Lee) and his sidekick Eddie (Crispin Glover) need a lucky break to get out of this small Texas town. Local crime boss Spider (Pruitt Taylor Vince) offers them twenty-five grand to drive contraband cigarettes across the border. The job goes terribly bad, and now the bungling dou is in debt to the tune of a quarter million dollars. To pay back Spider, they hatch the brilliant plan to dig up the recently deceased Crystal Harkness (Melissa Keller), the young beautiful wife of the richest guy in town, for her diamond necklace they assume she was buried with. Sexy lady, but no necklace. Almost caught in the act, the nim-wits take the corpse with them. Frank decides to ransom Crystal's body to her wealthy husband Thomas Harkness (Xander Berkeley). Meanwhile back at Ma Muzzy's (Lin Shaye) house, Eddie has other ideas while looking after the Drop Dead Sexy corpse... ..
