S.Rimsky Salgado, de son pseudonyme, Imposs est indubitablement l'artiste le plus respecte et le plus influent de la communautée Hip Hop Québécoise. Grace a ses textes qui revendiquent avec style, son flow percutant et son géni musical, plusieurs lui donnent déjà le titre du meilleur rappeur Québécois. Depuis la sortie du 1er album de son groupe Muzion en juin 1999 sous l'étiquette BMG, il a su se tailler une place parmi les plus grands artistes de l'histoire de la musique urbaine au Canada. Nomine au Gala d'ladisq pour meilleur auteur compositeur et récipiendaire d'un Félix pour meilleur album Hip Hop cette même année, le groupe sort un deuxième album en 2002, encore une fois très bien reçu par la critique, il remporte un deuxième Félix pour meilleur album Hip Hop de l'année. Après une longue tournée de spectacles en France avec la formation 4mypeople/NTM, le groupe termine l'aventure avec une prestation remarquable au Zénith de Paris pour ensuite revenir à Montréal en 2004. C'est a ce moment la que l'artiste, recipiendaire de Grammys, Wyclef Jean les invite a collaborer avec lui sur son hit "24 heures a vivre". Le titre connait un succès monstre alors qu'Imposs et Muzion remportent un prix miroir pour la meilleure prestation au Festival d'été de Québec avec Wyclef. C'est en automne 2007 que parrut son premier album solo "MON POING D'VUE" distribue par Warner music group, le menant a une reconnaissance international. Le 1er extrait "Rien d'Interdit" de l'album tant attendu brise des records bds en radio pour un artiste de la scene urbaine Quebecoise. En reponse aux discordances politiques au Quebec, suite aux accomodements raisonable, Imposs sort la piece "Vive la difference" qui nous ramene a un partage humain au dela de la politique et a la richesse de l'integration social des differentes communautees ethniques au Quebec. Recipiendaire de 5 “S.O.B.A” (sounds of blackness awards) pour artiste Francophone de l'annee, album de l'annee, Revelation de l'annee et 2 choix du publique et une nomination a “LADISQ”... pour la 2eme fois Imposs signe le livre d'or de Montreal a l'hotel de ville, ce fut une premiere pour un artiste de la scene musicale urbaine au Quebec. Grace a son engagement social Imposs et la Gouverneure generale Michaelle Jean sont invites au reseau de nouvel RDI pour discuter de l'exclusion des jeunes noirs au Quebec, du profilage et de la violence dans les rues. Imposs continu a se produire partout a travers le Canada a guichet ferme, il performe pour une foule de 100 000 spectateurs a Ottawa le 1er juillet 2007 , il performe aussi a Edmonton au festival (Edmonton chante) et tout les festivals de grande envergure au Quebec dont (FME, Fest. Montgolfieres, St Jean, fest. d'ete de Granby, Francofolies...) pour ensuite faire la tournee Belle et Bum au cote de Joanne Blouin, Normand brathwaite, Anik Jean, Annie illeneuve, Alfarococo, Stefie Schock pour nomme que quelques artistes, il termine la tournee avec Wyclef et Akon le 11 juillet dans le cadre du “Festival d’été de Québec”. Une semaine apres Wyclef collabore avec Imposs et Will.iam pour la chanson hit “let me touch your buttons” tire de son album “Carnival part 2 memoirs of an immigrant” il tourne le video avec Imposs a Los Angeles realise par le plus grand producteur de video Anthony Middler (Britney pears, Rihanna, Jay Z Lady Gaga..) l'extrait connait un succes allant directement au numero 1 des palmares Musique plus et plusieurs radios a travers le Canada. Il prepare la reunion de son groupe Muzion sous l'etiquette Sak pase records de Wyclef Jean. Suite au succes de son spectacle au festival d'ete de Quebec, Imposs est re invite a produire son spectacle pour deux annees consecutives avec l'artiste de grande renomme Ice Cube et le groupe legendaire Iam. Imposs collabore avec plusieurs artistes dont une reprise de la piece "Animal" de France D'Amour qui connait un succes monstre au Quebec. L'artiste polyvalent tourne aussi une publicitee pour la compagnie Gatorade faisant la version francophone de la campagne promotionelle G2 en collaboration avec l'artiste recipiendaire de Grammys Lil Wayne. Imposs etant aussi l'ambassadeur Canadien de la fondation Yele Haiti, il s'engage a promouvoir la riche culture de son pays en performant dans plusieurs levees de fonds dont le telethon "Ensemble pour Haiti" qui ramasse plus de 13 000 000$ venant en aide aux victimes du seisme en Haiti. Rimsky Salgado also known as Imposs, is undoubtedly the most respected and influential artist in the Quebec Hip-Hop Scene. Due to his gifted musical talents and his unparallel hard hitting lyrical style, many brand him as the “Best rapper in Quebec, Canada”. Since June 1999, the date of his first album release with his group Muzion under the label SONYBMG, Imposs managed to solidify himself amongst the best of all time in the Canadian Music scene. Nominated for a “LADISQ” award for best author / composer as well as being the recipient of a “Felix Award” for Hip Hop album of the year, the group released another album in 2002 which was very well embraced by critics and yet again they were awarded with Hip Hop Album of the year. After two successful albums, Imposs along with “Muzion” toured in France with some of the most respected French artists in Europe, “4mypeople”, “NTM”. The group ended the adventure with a remarkable performance at the “Zenith of Paris” to then return to Montreal in 2004. Shortly after, Wyclef Jean invited them to collaborate with him on his hit song, “24 hours to live”. The song enjoyed instant success. Imposs and Muzion were honored with the “Prix Mirroir” for the best performance at the “Festival d'ete de Quebec” alongside Wyclef Jean, in which they performed for over 80 000 fans. The group then toured all over Canada and gained a lot of fans all over the world. Their hit “La vi ti nèg” had an enormous response in Canada, Miami, New York and Haiti. It is in Octobre 2007 that Imposs released his first solo record distributed by Warner music group; he describes this album as the rebuttal of the people, “Mon poing d’vue” which is known to be the best Hip Hop record to ever come out of Quebec. “Rien d’Interdit” the first single off the critically acclaimed album broke radio airplay records for urban artists which was a first in Quebec. Following the discordant political situation between Quebec and Canada, Imposs then released his second single “Vive la difference” which had a major social impact. Defending his community Imposs’s song was an answer to the “commission Bouchard Taylor”, he raised awareness to the social integration of different ethnical groups in Quebec and fought racism with a strong message of unity. Recipient of 5 “S.O.B.A” (sounds of blackness awards) with “Mon poing d’vue” for Francophone Artist of the year, Francophone Album of the year, Revelation of the year, 2 Public’s choice awards and a “LADISQ” nomination, the young artist was invited, for the second time, to sign the golden book of the city at the town hall next to the council, that was also a first for an urban artist in Quebec. Imposs kept on pushing and representing his community. Following the brutal murder of 18 year old hispanic man (Freddy Villanueva) by police officers, riots exploded in Montreal’s inner city. The honorable governor general Michaelle Jean and Imposs were invited on the RDI news to discuss the matter. Imposs always stood on the frontline to defend misunderstood people from disadvantaged neighborhoods. Imposs went on touring all over Canada with his album in front of sold out crowds of which he performed for 100 000 fans in Ottawa on July 1st 2008, he also performed in Edmonton’s festival (Edmonton chante) and all the major festivals in Quebec (FME, Francofolies, Belle et Bum tour…). The young artist gave a stellar performance with Wyclef and Akon on the 11th of July in Quebec’s “Festival d’été de Québec”. A week later Wyclef and Imposs were at it again making history. Imposs collaborated on Wyclef’s remix hit “let me touch your buttons” off his album “Carnival part 2 memoirs of an immigrant” alongside “Jimmy O” of the Sak pasé records label and “Will.i.am” of the infamous group “Black eyed peas” the artists shot the video in Los Angeles and the song is now an international hit. Imposs presented the single/video in Canada and right away it went straight to number 1 on Musique plus and various radios all over the country. The multi talented, tri lingual artist will team up with Wyclef and the Sak pasé records movement for Muzion’s reunion album which is one of the biggest musical events to come. Making music in French, English and Creole, Imposs attracts interest from various countries all over the world.
