Fingerpicking Guitar

I’ve spent many years learning how to fingerpick a guitar. I tend to play in the ‘Travis’ alternating bass style, but recently have begun to move into chord melody stylings of jazz standards. I currently play a 1970’s Martin D28 and a Gibson Super 400. I aspire to owning a 1950’s Gibson ES 175.

Bodybuilding and fitness

I’m a bodybuilder and have been for the last 25 years. I’m not huge but I don’t want to be. I like using my body and I like the discipline of an exercise routine. I also like to be ripped and try to keep my body fat below 8%. I run sometimes and have recently got into indoor rowing for an aerobic workout. I haven’t owned a car for over 5 years and that has forced me to get my 10,000 steps a day.

Retro style

I like to dress retro and vintage. I also like to wear cool colour combinations and mix up textures and styles. I have a great many bespoke suits and shoes. I collect vintage ties and like my trousers baggy. I think two-tone shoes are the business.

Details are the key to the look, so I have lots of cufflinks, tiebars, suspenders and hats. I buy most of my stuff from op shops.

Travelling

I like to travel and have just returned to Australia after living in Indonesia for the last two years. I plan on returning to Asia towards the end of this year and, after that, head for Europe and the USA.

HTML and CSS

I have only recently begun to learn how to code, but it has become a deep interest. I have constructed a few web sites now and I learn something new each time I do one. I am very interested in constructing sites that are as user friendly as possible and believe that a lot of web sites suffer from very bad design choices.

Colour Theory

I became interested in colours, and the ways they harmonise, at a fairly early age. At first I limited my interest in colour to the clothes I wore. Recently, as I have become more interested in web design, I have set out to learn more. I subscribe to a number of palette services and have begun to explore histories of colour schemes and aesthetic choices.
