Luvplanet's performed to crowds as big as 10,000 people with acts such as Boston, Plain White T’s, Uli Roth (Scorpions), Third Eye Blind, A Tribute to Abbey Road w/ Todd Rundgren, Pat Travers, Y&T, George Lynch (Dokken), The Tubes and The Donnas. Luvplanet’s energetic live show pumps out positive vibes and raw emotion that can’t be found anywhere else.
Mark met charismatic vocalist Nicole Sutton in 1999 and during that year Nicole, Mark, Stu Hamm & Jeff Campitelli rehearsed together and performed a few shows. It was an inspirational time for everyone but Stu and Jeff's commitment's with Joe Satriani eventually came calling. Mark realized the strong musical connection between Nicole and himself and though Stu and Jeff played on the debut Luvplanet cd, it was clear that a permanent rhythm section was needed. They recruited Mark's former band mates, bassist Tommy Sisco and drummer Scott McKenzie. Since then the band has delivered three full length releases, Luvplanet (2003), State of Mind (2005) and Lucky One (2008). In 2004 they recorded "Don't Take Me For A Loser" for the Gary Moore Tribute cd - Give Us Moore(Lion Music).
Great production and vocals with rich harmonies! As always Mark McGee's beautiful guitar playing blows my mind!
KARL DERFLER - Engineer (NO DOUBT, LIVE, NELLY)
Luvplanet rouses the village! Nicole Sutton, where have you been? You deserve a high chart position, top radio rotation and chauffeur-driven rides to receive your grammy’s! Non-pretentious lyrics on a bed of guitar greatness express songs that aren't cliché-cluttered.
ROGER FISHER (HEART)
Mark is working on his debut solo cd. Drawing from many musical styles, he plans to deliver a powerful and deeply moving collection of songs. The moody track "Dream of You" features mesmerizing fretless bass from the legendary Tony Franklin (Jimmy Page) and the song "River" includes a tasteful bass solo by the one and only Stu Hamm(Steve Vai) along with drummer Jeff Campitelli (Joe Satriani). Drum master Jamie Van De Bogert appears on five tracks and members of Luvplanet will also be guesting!
From 1995 thru 2004 and in 2007, Mark was the lead & slide guitarist for southern blues icon Gregg Allman! In Gregg's 30+ year solo career, Mark is the longest running guitarist with over a decade of performances. With Gregg Allman and Friends, Mark's fiery style and wicked slide playing adds an exciting edge and intensity to the band's sound! Mark and GA & Friends have performed in the U.S., Canada, Japan, Italy, England & Poland. Mark appears on Gregg's releases, Searching For Simplicity (Sony/1997) and No Stranger To The Dark/The Best of Gregg Allman(Sony/2001). In Mark's journey alongside the Rock n Roll Hall of Famer was the opportunity to work in the studio with legendary producer Tom Dowd. Mr. Dowd has produced some of the biggest artists of the 20th century! GA & Friends have shared the stage with Jeff Beck, Joe Cocker, Derek Trucks Band, Govt. Mule, The Spinners, Wilson Pickett, David Crosby, Bad Co., REO Speedwagon, Ted Nugent, Joan Jett, Kansas and Cyndi Lauper to name a few.
From 1986 - 1995, Mark was lead guitarist for heavy metal's Vicious Rumors. Mark's distinct melodic style, songwriting, arranging and technical finesse were a key component in Vicious Rumors signature sound. Mark and VR recorded 4 studio albums & 2 live albums, three for Atlantic Records. Mark also appeared on MTV(U.S., Europe & Japan) in 4 promotional music videos and toured in 20 countries including a sold tour of Japan in 1992! Mark left the band in Spring 1995 to pursue new musical ventures. Sadly, just 3 weeks after Mark's departure, lead vocalist Carl Albert was involved in a fatal car accident. The band has treked on with several lineup changes yet the era with Mark and Carl is still regarded as the classic VR lineup! In 2001, Mark did return as a special guest for VR's Sadistic Symphony release appearing on the tracks, Blacklight, Neodymium Man, Sadistic Symphony, Puritan Demons & Cerebral Sea. Then in 2006, Mark joined the band once again for a special reunion show in California!
Mark's been with the Alameda All Stars since the summer of 1995. Through them, Mark received an audition with Gregg Allman. Over the years this thriving musical brotherhood produced a world class roster of musicians. In 1990 blues legend Gregg Allman sat in with the band and this led to the quintessential Gregg Allman & Friends line up which lasted for over a decade and featured many Alameda All Star members. The band is currently collaborating on their official debut cd. They've performed with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Styx, Journey, 38 Special, Night Ranger, The Tubes, Doobie Brothers, Jefferson Starship, Edgar Winter and most recently in 2008 at the 4oth Anniversary Summer of Love festival in Golden Gate Park with special guest Brian Auger to 80,000 people.
In 1984, Mark and his band Now performed with the prog rock band Starcastle. Starcastle, Throughout the late seventies they released 4 LPs for Sony Music (Starcastle, Fountains of Light, Citadel, Real to Reel) and toured with Styx, Rush, Boston and Jethro Tull. However by 1980, they had disbanded and founding member, bassist/vocalist Gary Strater relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area a plan to revise his musical vision. He formed a new, modern incarnation of Starcastle. This was a very creative period in Mark's path, allowing him to stretch out his musical abilities. While the band was only together for 2 years, Mark cherishes that time as one of his most memorable. Gary eventually relocated to his home town of Champaigne, IL and reunited with several original band members to work on a new cd, Song of the Times. It includes new songs and songs from Mark's period with the band with Mark appearing on three songs. Mark and Gary remained the best of friends until Gary's untimely passing in September 2004.
