Our entire community is overrun by self-aggrandizing individuals attempting to make more of themselves than can be truthfully maintained. If nothing else, in this moment, let us be honest with one another. Music does not change the world, however it can change the individual and that is what 7 Generations is. 7 Generations is an attempt on behalf of five individuals to express their angst, frustrations, ideas and hope. In doing so 7 Generations seeks to create moments within the hardcore community in which we can express these aspects of ourselves and share these moments with individuals who desire an outlet for their own expression of similar emotions, or perhaps individuals awaiting a recognition of these feelings within themselves. In hardcore we have seen a forum through which individuals can express, inspire, create and grow. This is what 7 Generations endeavors to partake in and enhance. It is central to our perspective that hardcore is legitimate and alive only when it is independent and ever-questioning. As such, 7 Generations maintains a D.I.Y. ethic and encourages the rejection of the mainstream music industry and mainstream mentalities.
We embrace veganism and the struggle for animal liberation, because needless slaughter and brutality is unjustifiable and the consequences are far too destructive. We live a straightedge lifestyle, because escapism subordinates growth, edification and fulfillment. We align ourselves with the cause of feminism and womyn’s liberation, because patriarchy is a ubiquitous oppression that is one and the same with other objectifying bigotries such as racism and speciesism. We are anti-christs, because Abrahamic Religion has been the face of horrible death for far too many and we reject the fundamental myths that theism is built upon. We are anarchists, because we recognize the lineage of history as a story of mass power structures time and again forsaking autonomous existence.
We have no delusions of our band holding some grandiose purpose that will have an impact on the world. We do not expect to become a cornerstone of punk rock history. We are simply five individuals who are thoroughly discontent with many aspects of civilization and we are attempting to vent our anger and share our hope with anyone willing.
“When we can’t dream any longer, we die.”- Emma Goldman
hey i was wondering while seeing your pics why you and some girls in the front row are all dressed up in your final show ?? it looks like so much fun and fancy
"what is so beautiful about moments we have like this is something that directly flies in the face of the sort of thinking that religion engenders one with. if we were to live for eternity, right now would just be one other day on an endless list. nothing special whatsoever. but since we are doomed to die, since we will not live forever, this day is as meaningful as anything could ever be. this day, tomorrow, every second of your life will never ever come again because you are going to die as surely as any blade of grass will die and pass with no one remembering it. and that makes every single thing we experience more beautiful than any trite eternity." -c. rouse. 24 october 2009.
i just want to thank you guys for doing and saying what you did. i can say in all honesty seven generations is a huge reason i'm straight edge now. and for that i'm forever thankful.
I love you guys. I'll always love you guys. Thanks for saying what you said. It's nights like Saturday that have kept me and countless others inspired. X <3 X
Saterday night was such a great experince guys thank you so much for every thing you have done for us. I will never for get thos last few moments of the show ware every one came together once agian thank you for what you have done and I will not stop pushing for what you stood for.
In the end I didn't make it to the last show; surely there are worse things a person can do in life. Now that things are in more of a "said and done" place for 7 Gen, I have the need to still extend towards the band a deep and truthful gratitude to the band. Being able to see and grow and be different among peers is an amazing thing. Being able to be face to face or back to back; have differences, likeness' and all the other stuff is a luxury all too often overlooked. Well, here's to a small attempt to show the gratitude and not overlook what's present.
Some people in this band have always had a smile and hug for me; I'm grateful for that. Some people have butted heads with me; again I am truly grateful for that. This band helped expand a deeper understanding of veganism for me; a better appreciation for the Smiths; it created a place of screaming-unhinged solace for a few brief moments in time.
7 Generations isn't my favorite band- but that isn't what its all about. I wont go on much longer, and sincerest apologies if this got a bit diverted and funny in the head- but a true thank you. It wasn't the same at the end (for me) as it was at the start--- But how could it be? One can't be expected to have the same experiences 4-5 years down the line. That'd be stagnation and rehashing (at best). But what is still the same is a certain level of respect... and an undying love for the subhumans & toy dolls.
thanks for not going on and leaving this thing to crack in the sun... diseased and dying.
