7 Mansions is an original band and the creation of Satina and Diz.
Satina is originally from Illinois and grew up on the west side of Chicago. From sunup till sundown, music was played in her home. She learned the basics early as her mother would play everything from the Philly sound to the Motown sound – but it didn’t stop there. There was always a wide variety of music filling the air. At the age of nine Satina proclaimed to her family in a bold move that she wanted to become an opera singer when she grew up and would often sail through the house belting out lavish notes (which she still does today). Some of her influences are: Yma Sumac, Pat Benatar, Heart, Etta James, Chaka Khan and electronica & house music.
Like Satina, Diz is from Illinois and he too grew up in musical household on the west side of Chicago. His mother was a Hawaiian steel guitarist and she encouraged him to play a string instrument. Diz of course, fell in love with the guitar. He learned many different styles growing up and has a wealth of knowledge to draw upon when carving his beautiful, carbon footprint in music. His influences are: Alvino Rey, Albert King, Jimmy Hendrix, Jeff Beck and Bootsy Collins.
Satina and Diz met in Minneapolis, MN in 2005 at a local Sunday night blues jam. They soon discovered each others unique musical background and formed songwriting collaboration. A band was inevitable. They found other players and began making a name for themselves around the Twin Cities. They played at the Wild Life Café and the FineLine Cafe to packed houses and the consensus was overwhelming. They had something unique.
In the Winter of 2007 Satina and Diz relocated to southern California in order to expand their business and creative horizons. They began refining their concept and working on projects. They are currently in the studio working on their album and excited about its release. ..
