The group comprised of six men all from Washington, DC, are lead singers Cliff Jones, Dave DaveyBoy Lindsey, Deonte Gray, Matthew Tucker, Ronnie Lindsey and Kenneth Epperson Jr.
The first question is always, why is the group called 7 Sons of Soul? Dave Lindsey, who also plays keyboard and produces and writes much of the groups music answers God represents both the first and the last son. He is the alpha & the omega our beginning and our end. The name of the group really represents both the number of completion 7 which is Gods perfect number according to I John 3:2 and the sons of soul because we are guided by Him, the Father we are all His sons.
Stand-outs include Prayer Changes the old-school, jam ensconced in tradition that makes you feel like its a Sunday morning at church and Need You, a nearly R&B sounding song from the opposite end of the musical spectrum that features Cliff Jones silky vocals & Lindseys contemporary instrumentation. I just fell in love with the record when I first heard it, said Lindsey. I did the piano solo on it and the song speaks to the person out of touch with God and wants to find their way back. The first single off the project is the encouraging number Run On, The lyrics are traditional by nature and the flow is all day. Co-written by Jones, Lindsey and his brother Michael, the song actually marks a pivotal turning point for the group.
7 Sons of Soul reveal their higher purpose all shunning the chance to record secular music. Jones who is well known in mainstream music circles, as both a producer and manager has worked with several top selling artists including Dru Hill, Ginuwine, Gladys Knight and Will Smith, says hed never sing R&B. Although Ive been a part of managing different groups and have been offered R&B deals; Im convicted to stay true to what Im called to do and I can only record Gospel music I love Gospel, its in my heart its a part of me, says Jones.
Their music pays tribute yesterday, is an indication of tomorrow and the combination is perfect for today.

See blog - The church is about to fail abortionists and abortionistas like we have failed homosexuals. The gospel is inclusive! God knows the babies being aborted prior to being formed in the womb but how many of our own involved in wars are quitting because innocent children gets killed? Did God not know these before conception too? Are christian doctors quitting to care for soldiers engaged in a war that kills children? Whose tax monies are funding these wars? Are pastors quitting based on the divorce rate in the church? Whose monies are funding the incarceration of young and often innocent men instead of educating them? Are christian lawyers quitting? Why don't these doctors offer to counsel these people and with the church see if they can work out a way to save the babies? Why do we always look for the easiest way out? Quitting is not the answer! This, is the battle that we have been called to fight so abort your plan to go AWOL! If you are in the battle for the Lord and right, keep on the firing line. God will only use a soldier He can trust! We must fight, be brave against ALL evil! Never run or look behind. Instead of going on christian stations to open your gobs and talk impractical nonsense, use the monies for the horses, private jets, no heated swimming pool for 6 months, sell one of the expensive cars, avoid clothing and shoe stores for 3 months, go on a diet if you have to and use those monies to build buildings for these children who those women wanted to abort and let US take care of them. Who is ready to show compassion, make real sacrifices, get their hands in the mess and put the light of Christ back on? Who? Bless God for Pastor Tommy Barnett.
