About the Lifeline

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a 24-hour, toll-free suicide prevention hotline available to anyone in emotional crisis. If you need help, please dial 1-800-273-TALK (8255) and you will be routed to one of our 130 crisis centers nationwide. Call for yourself, or someone you care about. Your call is free and confidential.

In July of 2007, the Lifeline partnered with The Department of Veterans Affairs' and established a national suicide prevention hotline to help veterans in emotional crisis. Veterans can call the Lifeline number, 1-800-273-TALK (8255), and press "1" to be routed to the Veterans Suicide Prevention Hotline.
